Anyone have a good build for a pure caster witch?
I've had an easy enough time building witch as a melee based caster hybrid. It's functional from a pure game system perspective, but from a roleplaying perspective it doesn't match with what I want from a witch. It feels more like a death knight or something along those lines.

I'm not complaining about the way witch functions or asking for anything to be changed. The developer has a vision for the class and is not obligated to make sure it aligns with what I personally like. But I would very much like to find a way to play it as a "real" caster.

So, anyone here come across a functional witch build that isn't melee/strength based?

I suppose / hope that there will be new spells and open talents made available that will open new viable builds for current careers. O maybe balance/adjustments to existing talents and spells. And I agree with you, it would be super cool to play a witch as a pure caster with debuffs, curses, DoTs, etc..

not really, would be fine at level 5 talent but SP is the problem for now.

I think witch class will be statistically optimized for the reptilian race. The one not yet select-able.

A possible solution:
Goblin witch
STR 2
DEX 5
END 5
AWA 4
PER 3
INT 6 or 7
SEL 7 or 6

Personally really enjoyed playing a witch so far
Mine is focused on endurance self and intelligence basically lowered all other stats to min and maxed end int and self
I also kept 4 dex so I could bow if needed

I took the paralyzing touch skill and the last rights skill and stacked spell power where I could.

Battle wise she is the finisher as last rights has never missed for me and hits around 5-11 dmg while healing my mana to almost no loss
When not finishing opponents she follows directly behind the tank and is used for paralyzing opponents the tank is fighting.

I also took the healing AOE and a summon skever for some situations but primarily use her as a last hit and opponent lock
Also been testing out locus swarm on her but find it only useful for enemies over 55 HP

(This party is also filled with 2 mages(fire and ice based) one laborer the captain as my tanks and one burgler.) Find most battles pretty trivial even in old school mode with this party

Hard to make a good witch build right now because there is no arcane blood, also no access to any malevolence trainers. I tried a witch build that used paralyzing touch, however the harder combatants on cruel tend to have high mental resistance and will often resist. The curse is kind of nice, but I would say witches are underpowered right now. Im not sure I would put any witch build as melee or strength based as they seem like a pretty solid front line caster type. Stats should definitely be in endurance and caster stats.

The ideal witch build right now is not pure caster, it’s mino 2h with paralyze touch, last rites, the tier 2 fire spell, gateway, root, and AoE heal. Take totemic might and wear chain while teleporting around while hitting/nuking/life draining things that may or may not be rooted

Admittedly, I had thought of a Vrannari melee witch and a goblin caster witch. Batrax doesn't work because of the endurance penalty.

But I made a goblin with these stats:
2/6/5/7/3/6/5

Decent with casting and decent with a bow. It should be able to work well enough for a caster.
I could have shuffled the points I put into DEX and AWA into END and PER, but I think having the bow as a sidearm is pretty useful.

What is the best race for Witch? I am perplexed because magic abilities depend by Intellect, Personality and Self Control.

But Varannari have penalities to INT and SLF.
Goblin to SLF.
Minotaurs, well let's skip it.
Batrax seems ok, but they have -2 to END, while Witch must have at least 5 END. So you have to put 8 points to END in order to have 5.
And Witch cannot be human.


So it seems to me this career is very unbalanced. Maybe next races?

Witch balance must take into consideration several talents. Sacrifice (level 2) can easily grant you 15 willpower per day, so you don't really depend that much on high SLF or PER. Arcane Blood (level 5, not available yet) makes END grant you spellpower, just as INT does. Other talents that will become playable soon, when more levels are added, will have more synergies with monstruous races (for instance, Totemic Might open talent)

I would like to have a Varannari witch, because in Exiled Kingdoms this was a big part of the lore. But the penalty to INT and SLF is heavy.
