Not enough berries

Battles drop pitiful amounts of berries and healing isn't cheap. Sidequests can give a good amount of berries but that also goes away quickly. What is a good way of collecting them?

I am on chapter 3 by the way.

use the bank asap because you will have thousands of berries in interest after a few chapters (or less if you idle).

in golden hill, the northern areas you can only access by holding down beemerang, the bushes always drop berries and refresh when you leave the screen, so you can equip the bug off badge to ignore enemies and just keep getting berries as long as you want. you can also get as many berries as you want by grinding in the theater iirc

Just in general I'm pretty sure the drops for berries aren't crazy to incentivize the use of Hard Hits and the bank. I just had a grand old time in Chapter 3 with both Hard Mode and Hard Hits on because I invested early in the bank and had enough money for healing items in the generous shop there and was making back what I was buying and then some. You may want to try farming money for a bit through fighting weaker enemies with Hard Hits on, then banking it and letting your in-game time run up through various means before the main dungeon unless you're already in it.

The spy card tournament is a really fast and consistent way to earn berries once you complete chapter 3, and as others have said, an investing money in the bank is well worth it.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I knew of the bank but missed the point in it. Earning interest sounds helpful. I've also looked into recipes for better (and overall cheaper) items and hopefully will stop the feeling poor soon enough.
