Question about Hard Mode Medal and berry drops

I am at the part in Chapter 2 right after the festival and was doing a bit of an experiment. I fought the same Numbsnail 5 times with Hard Mode both off and on in the screen to the right of the Chapter 2 town and I got more berries with Hard Mode off all times except the last fight. When it says "more EXP and rewards" are berries part of the "rewards" it mentions, because there is an entirely separate Medal called Hard Hits that gives you double berry drops and I was just curious if Hard Mode also affects the amount of berries you get after battle, or if it's completely random.

I think the rewards part might be a higher chance to get items off of enemies. i'm just taking a guess here. you can try fighting the same enemy and see if you if you get more items with hard mode on.

I finish the game and I think it's like 15% more exp and money. Edit: I'm not sure for berries.

Yeah I've played with both Hard Mode and Hard Hits on for the entirety of Chapter 3 for a challenge (other than the boss :p) and Hard Hits is definitely the only money multiplier. Thank you for your insight guys!
