Is it really SO hard?
Ok guys,
I never played a bike game nor was I interested in motobikes. I am a big fan of wrc, wec, gt racing (cars obviously...).

But I thought i give it a try... And by the way I knew isle of man before and always thought (and still do) these guys are damn crazy... :D
And I really like it! The sense of speed is awesome...

but...

I really suck at this game... I am playing with controller (I am a sim racer and eing used to the big stuff like wheel, pedals, shifter and so on...) and as i like the "real simulation" i am playing without (most) assists and manual shifting etc.

I barely get to finish ONE LAP without crashing after my 3hours playtime...
Mainly the steering with controller is really awkward when you are used to a wheel...its not sensitive at all...

So my question to you guys...: It is really so hard or am I just not able to drive a bike? :D

I have 274 hours in the first TT Isle of Man and only 13.4 hours into TT Isle of Man Ride on the Edge 2,becase it is almost impossable to play on this laptop PC.
I still barely get to finish ONE LAP without crashing.
So my answer to you is...: It is really so hard. I also use a Steam controller. :ttlogo:

Haha, ok thanks for confirmation :D
I thought i was the only one, but when you say you have more than 270 hours spent and still crashing, i am reassured...:)

I will try and learn more and more... Its a really cool game. :)

I have more hours in IOM TT2 because the first one had this strange bug where upon at a corner the/a 'sweeping wind' seemed to blow the bike over from the wheels. The wheels were swept from under you on corners.

After much practice on TT2 I have managed to learn the tracks/circuits and now I can play based on my learned experience without having to worry about corners.
The stupidly bad thing is that the horrible whooshing sound of the wind cannot be turned off no matter the option in the menu. It just doesn't work

Way better that TT1 in my opinion :ss13ok:

I suggest you use the assists, i haven't found they slow me down any.

The name of the game is "ride on the edge" and it is designed to be played as such, so yes falling on the TT course happens more than id like, having said that there are people that can lap the TT course without falling off.

The best player i ever saw on the TT course was a guy on the xbox, he looked like the real racers doing a lap, and no he didn't fall off.

Same with the other sims you play, its all about practice.

Not sure if you are aiming your post at anyone at all or are just being general - but TT1 Is known for this horrible wind/corner bug which hampers a perfect lap :-/

Of course it's a matter of practice to get better :ss13ok:

I played TT1 too, i know about the tyre sliding out and i agree that TT2 is better, i always knew i could take the tracks a lot faster than i was in TT1 and i was right, a lot of people didnt like the change though.:steamfacepalm:

Yeah, for some reason...

I have no comparison because I only know TT2 and never played another bike game before (although now I am playing an mxgp game also), and NEVER driven a bike before, but for me it is extremel hard to get used to the steering... Im using an xbox controller and its hard to find the right sensitivity and not to "oversteer"/over correct when entering the mid fast corners... But yea, as you already said... Just try and learn... :)

Stick with it my friend and you'll get a lot more skilled over time. I use the keyboard and it takes some getting used to but each session I improve.

I've yet to get around the TT circuit without crashing so that is my challenge currently and for quite a while I suspect :-)

Maybe try one of the shorter tracks to get used to the bikes and the sensitivity settings, you really have jumped in at the deep end with the full course.
You can also split the tt course into sections, i find it best to go the sections one at a time to get a good feel for the TT, my times on the TT arent brilliant tbh but that's because i havent put much time into it.

Good advice there Bassit.

A week or so I bought the Ducati 900 - Mike Hailwood 1978 DLC and using it this evening I found it enjoyable using it on Snaefell as the bike is practically slower than other bikes so actually allowed me to take the course at a slower pace and assisted me in learning the course too :ss13ok:

I use an Xbox controller on tt too.
You want the bike setup so that it leans in quite fast but sits up "fairly slow", sitting the bike up too quickly will cause an imbalance and can make you fall off, same for fast turns say left to right, if you try to do this as fast as you can you will end up falling quite a lot through the imbalance caused by trying to throw the bike too quickly.

Try to edit your lean settings so it sits up nice and smooth, i use -6 both left and right and that seems to be the sweet spot for me, but i normally ride the 600's.

I also use all the assists on medium settings and it hasn't slowed me down, top 10 in all but 1 of the supersport British tracks.

Coming from Dirt Rally 2.0 and WRC series. Yes, this is for me MUCH harder than "simulation" level difficulty on car racing games. I crash EVERY race numerous times. I hardly manage to turn properly. Note: my mistake may result from me choosing SIMULATION difficulty...

When I was using the racing line I rarely ever fell off and did a 17 30 SS time, but since i decided to turn the line off I crash a lot. It is mostly practice...I am debating turning it back on which depends on whether i can use it when racing online.

You may suck, but do you "sacked by first team -> sacked by second team -> abandoned by all sponsors" suck? My reputation after 3 seasons is like 24, and I'm no closer to getting to the TT than when I started.
