Authenticating... (Can't connect online)
So I bought the base version of Ticket to Ride years ago, but recently bought the Humble Bundle complete version and have been trying to link accounts so I can get all my maps on my Android version. The problem I am having is that not matter what I try, I cannot seem to get the Steam version "online". What I mean is, I start up the Steam version, I get no kind of display saying that I'm logged in or logging in. In the upper right corner, the brown gears just spin. When I do finally give up and hit Play, I can start a single player game, but when I hit Online, I get a window saying "Authenticating...." and it just sits there. A second or two later, the game prepares the windows in the background to prepare for the incoming data (ie. games, players, etc.) but it never connects.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, uninstalled and ran through the registry deleting any and all keys related to "ticket to ride" (there are now keys for "days of wonder"), I've added specific firewall rules to allow port 25536 (as outlined here: https://www.daysofwonder.com/en/contact/cant-connect-server/?game=t2r&version=steammac), and nothing. Windows Firewall already has the rules built in after installing the game, but I thought I'd at least give that a try to eliminate a variable. They also mention setting Steam to Offline, then Online mode, which I tried. Nothing. I've verified the integrity of game files. Nothing.

If I visit the Days of Wonder website, I can login with my Steam account successfully, but it does not show my DLC purchases. When starting Android, I am able to login with my account, and it does connect, but does not show any of the DLC maps I purchased. I'm not using separate accounts or anything, so there's nothing to merge. It's like my Steam version just will NOT call home to DoW and "register" itself. Oh yeah, and I've already contacted DoW 2x now, and nary a peep out of them. So no help there.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss as to what to try next, minus uninstalling and reinstalling Steam.

You want main screen -> more -> settings -> log in.

Unfortunately on that screen I enter my email address and it just spins wheels and never asks for a password (Ubuntu 18.04)

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I don't have a "More" on my main screen. I do find Settings under "Hall of Fame, Achievments, but the Settings screen only shows this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1512509049

There is nothing there that lets me click on "Log in".
I'm having this same problem!!! Had any luck figuring it out?

@Scottish Sorry, we have missed your message. If you still have the problem (I guess you do) could you please send us the log (see below)?

@Rabbit, please contact the support so that we can investigate the problem. We will ask you to reproduce the problem and send us the log file (%TEMP%\Days of Wonder\Ticket to Ride\info.log). Hopefully that will give us a clue of what is happening on your computer.

Send all this here with a message explaining what steps you take, with as any details as you can: https://asmodee.helpshift.com
(please select Ticket to Ride in the dropdown menu at the top left of the page)

Thanks.
@Eric, I did contact support. They sent me a new steam key that steam ignores and says I already own the game. Waiting for a response.

On my wife's laptop (under her account) it shows a log in button on the main page. On my computer, it shows spinning gears. This happens if I launch Ticket to Ride from either my desktop or laptop. To note, we bought our copies through the Humble Bundle sale.

I fixed my authentication error... apparently it was failing trying to authenticate my steam account. So I merged my steam account and my old asmodee account. Then I had to go to my profile and change the log in name (that it pulled from steam). And now it works.

@Rabbit Can you explain the steps you get back to the support and give them information about your old account and your new account? I will have a look and try to figure out what the issue was, so that we can fix it.

Thanks.
Off the top of my head? No. I think what I did was click on the support button in T2R, which opened a browser and had me logged in via my steam account. But I couldn't set a password for it. Whenever I would try to reset the account password, the email would go to my mailbox, but the reset code wouldn't work. Then I figured out that I had two accounts because if go to the asmodee site I can log in with my email address and asmodee password. But T2R was trying to log me in via my steam id number. So I found the merge accounts link on the asmodee site. Did that. I don't recall if I erased the T2R appdata cache or not at this point. I had tried previously but did not fix it on it's own. But ultimately, I was able to get the login button to appear on the T2R main page and log in with the merged Asmodee credentials.

EricB,
I have just sent in a support ticket (I'm assuming #620728). I have included the 'info.log' file. I have successfully merged my two accounts, keeping the Steam login name. I still cannot connect or play online with my Steam version. I *can* login with my Android version, but do NOT see the DLC I paid for in my Steam version.

Thank you.

Mr Bunny has it correct. I had the same issue. Linked the accounts. Then delete your app cache (in the Steam app .. go to Ticket to Ride. Click the gear wheel (settings) | Manage | Browse local files ...
Go back a few directories to the parent Steam install path (probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam). Go into the appcache folder and delete everything.

Hello I been playing ticket to ride for 20 hours on Steam deck. I recently got a problem where my game says Authenticating when I go to play online. I’ve tried logging out, cleared download cache, restart my deck, and shut down the game. Nothing is working.

I Have a working solution for Apple iPads and iPhones!!! Close the Ticket to Ride App. Goto settings and disable Game Center. Open the Ticket to Ride App. The gear in the upper right hand corner should display Login. Click on Login and enter your Asmodee credentials. Leave the app open but click the home button to goto settings and turn Game Center back on. Switch back to Ticket to Ride App and click on your profile where the gear use to be. Select to Link to Game Center. You should now be fixed until it disconnects again. Happy Gaming.

It's been four years, so I don't recall. But I did a quick search and found this. Good luck!
