skip turn?
Does anyone know how to skip a turn in this game? There was a situation in the European edition where there were no cards to choose from and I did not want to go because it would mean I would not be able to finish my route; however, I couldn't find a way to skip my turn and eventually I accidentally quit the game. Any help or direction would be really helpful.

I don't think you can - even in the "real" game, the possibility is not mentionned in the rules. IMHO, you have to play even if you don't want to.

You can't.

When you say "no cards to choose from", what do you mean? Routes, or train cards? Either way I've never seen that come even close to happening and I've played this game IRL dozens of times, maybe close to 100. I'm trying to envision this scenario, how did this situation even arise?

It was a single player with like 4 bots. I believe that all the cards were taken and I was a bit confused as to what was going on. I figured it out after a bit more playing. Like what "No One" said, I just needed to move somewhere even if I didn't want to.

Specifically, the colored track cards

So ALL the cards were in people's hands (well, mostly bots' "hands" but you know what mean) and no-one was claiming any routes? Sounds like a bug in the AI, it's hard for me to imagine how that could be the case without people being able to play, and even harder to imagine how it would be advantageous to anyone to do that on purpose.

Pretty much. I just really didn't want to play and I had no choice at that moment. So I was rather confused I must say.

That can easily happen with a 5 player game even with humans... everyone is trying to force someone else to go first and tip their destinations. Top players playing a 2 person game will often draw to 40+ cards before playing. In a 5 person game there would only be 22 cards in each hand so the scenario is quite feasible, whether in the opening rounds or even at a later point in the game after some routes have been played.

There are 225 trains to be played in a 5 player game and 110 wagon/train cards (8 x 12 + 14 locos) so theoretically one would need to go through the wagon/train cards twice to get all the trains on the board!

And the above comments are correct ... if there are no further wagon/train cards to draw, then whoever gets backed into that corner first is going to have to start playing on the board!

In the same situation right now (Europe, Big Cities, against 4 bots):
No more colored cards (only 2 in my hand, the rest with bots)
No more destination cards (17 in my hand, the others with bots - on my way to quite the score...)
Only two cards in my hand, with which I can't claim a route
No way to skip my turn...
No idea how to move forward
