Multi Player Questions
If I want to play Ticket to Ride virtually with friends, do we each need to purchase the game on separate Steam accounts? Or does just one person need to purchase & invite everyone into a game?

Also, is there capability for two people within the same house to play, or would you also need separate Steam accounts/purchases?

Not all that great. (If you're in the same house, you can use Pass n Play, but then you're not social distancing!)

I did find, however, that the Remote Play option is awesome for couch co-op's like Overcooked.

Same question here :)

I've only tried the DLC in this concept. We all have the basic game but only I have the DLC. I can invite everybody with the basic version to my lobby via Steam. I'm not sure you can access the same game version via Steam as Steam does not allow multi-gaming via family sharing. Besides, how would you play the game if you didn't own a copy? What would your computer run? It can't just magically transform matter into game files? Not sure I can completely follow your question but hope that helps!

There is something called Remote Play Together and this game has it so your friends should be able to play it with you if only one of you have a copy

I've found that you all need a steam account, and you all need to buy ticket to ride on it, and then if you want to play expansions, you all need to buy those too!
On the plus side they're all £2 each just now!

Also, note that the friends list in the game is different to steam's and uses your Days of Wonder account name, not your steam name.

I'm looking for that too.
I've tried the "Remote play together" but it seems to only "recopy" or broadcast my screen on the other laptop. So, the other play are seeing your cards ... so it's useless.
The other player can shares your mouse and keyboard, but it's not playable for me. But I have no expertience for this game (through this interface), si maybe i'm looking on the wrong side !

Anybody could confirm that "remote play together" is working ? Thx :-)

I just bought Ticket to Ride and was thinking the same thing - you can all see each other's cards. The only work around is for each player to minimize their screen until it is their turn. Thoughts???

Anyone know if the game allows Pass and Play and Online play simultaneously? I've got family across the country, so I'm trying to make it possible for my family at home to play along with family in another state. I bought a copy for myself (my Steam account), and a copy for an out-of-state family member we're trying to "remote" in. Based on what I'm seeing, it sounds like that wouldn't work?

I have the exact same question as drworm29. Testing things with friends now. My guess is that that's not supported though...

Same issue I had with remote play. We can all see each other's cards. Basically you are just screen sharing but they also have the ability to move the mouse. It would work better if each person had their own account.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It seems like false advertising to me to list "Shared/Split Screen PvP" and "Remote Play Together" for this game. If together in person, there is no way to play with a single shared/split screen unless everyone else looks away when not their turn. It DOES support "Pass and Play" so can use it on a tablet computer in person, but can NOT play it displayed on a TV for all in the room to share the one screen, same with "Remote Play Together". Odd thing is, the store listing for Ticket to Ride does NOT show it supports "Pass and Play", which is the only of these three options it should list.

Thats really bad. I bought it only for this purpuse. I was thinking to invite friends over and play it together where everyone has there own tablet and I use my computer as host. Really bad making a boardgame like this...

I have 2 paid licenses to Ticket to Ride and am unable to play in online mode in Win10. Period. This game is c*&p if you cannot play with friends across distances. Solo works pretty well, but who wants to do that for very long. Online mode has lots of closed rooms. Pass and play (meh). Even if there is some arcane, obscure way of getting online multiplayer to work (which I doubt), that's still not good enough. The invitation and links should be intuitive and robust not unresponsive and buggy requiring community posts and abbreviated poorly worded Developer posts that are more a taunt (see above) than how to fix the problem. The developers should be ashamed of accepting money for this garbage.

I find that to be pretty harsh to call it c*&p and inaccurate to say you cannot play with friends across distances, and I am not sure what developer post you are referring to as a taunt. A developer marked a user's post as being a good answer to the original question, but I do not see any developer post in this thread.

The on-line play works fine for me with Win10. It CAN be a bit confusing to figure out how to invite friends and it should be streamlined, but it DOES work properly, and the game itself plays very well.

How To Set Up An On-Line Game With Friends Using Ticket To Ride on Windows 10:
1. Each person needs to have their own copy of the game installed along with any expansions you plan on using.

2. Each person needs to start up Ticket to Ride and make sure they are signed in with their free Days of Wonder / Asmodee account (button at the top right of the startup screen.)

3. Click "Play" from the middle of the main screen, then select "Online" from the menu.

4. To link your friends as "Buddies" to make it easier to find each other again:
A. Click on "Players" in the upper-right of the screen and search for your friends in the "Find" tab.

B. Click on the name of each of your friends, and the white heart with the question mark in it to make them a "Buddy". Names with green hearts by them are already linked to your account as a buddy.

5. Have all your friends go to Play/Online. They will now appear at the top of your Players/Online tab if they have been linked as Buddies.
(This is probably the step that makes trying to find and invite friends the most troublesome. Even if your friends have the game running and are logged in, you can only see them as "Online" and be able to send them an invite if they have entered the Play/Online area too.)

6. Click the "Create" tab in the center of the screen, and make sure the "Invitation" tag near the top of that page is selected.

7. Click on the names of each friend you want to invite then on the "Invite" tag that appears by their name.

8. Select any game settings you want (game map, total play time per player, starting player or random, if others can watch, if game is ranked, or any of the "Advanced" options).

9. Click the large green "Play" button at the bottom center of the screen and your friends will be sent invitations.
