And really, most of your issues can be solved by practicing. In 2019 I felt for a long time the AI had an advantage (and it really did for a while, but in later versions and this game it is fine) in the rain. So at a certain point I simply decided to practice drivingin the rain. I commited to doing 10 laps on each circuit in the rain which dramatically improved my rain skills and actually turned rain into a slight advantage for me. The AI is still better in the cross over periods though.
Regardless of that, I have no problems driving in the wet, my problem is more with how often I have to make compromises due to poor weather. In Russia I got completely screwed in Q3 due to rain, then in Japan I usually go for fastest lap in Practice 1 for a sponsor bonus, which I couldn't do due to more rain, and now I go to the US only to see there's gonna be a wet race, which means compromised quali.
A.I on the other hand doesn't have to compromise anything because they can drive at their maximum speed with one set-up on all weather conditions. As such I see any weekend with bad weather as a straight disadvantage for me and I'd like to remove what I view as an RNG disadvantage the game keeps throwing at me.
For me it feels like the AI looses way too much pace under rain against a setup wich is build for rain. I however can't really tell, if it's a problem with the AI lines not being properly calculated under these conditions or me just being a rain queen.
Same goes for practice programs as well. I normally do the hard ones in the rain and use the dry FP sessions for preperations, if the race itself takes place on sunny weather.
If you struggle finding pace, then try a setup with way more stability. You don't really need that much reaction time on your suspension and top end speed like on a dry setup. Preventing lock ups and concentrating on corner exit stability is the most important thing here (if you can't 100% throttle at 4th gear on most exits, then it's still not stable enough). Getting good exits will automatically lead to more speed on straights, even when you apply changes, which normally slow you down in dry weather.
I however never understood, why they prevent players from changing this setting. It was possible in 2017 if i remember correctly, but they made it mandatory since then. So i wouldn't bet on it being changed anytime soon.
That's just a gameplay decision. Some drivers (including me) actually want to have some rain every now and then. Not getting any most of the time would be as annoying to me as getting rain every third event might annoy you. I think rain every forth to fifth event is quite a good compromise here. It might be lower or higher sometimes though (because that's how RNG works), so just take it as bad luck, if you get a littlebit more for some races. (having rain every weekend is quite rare for example)
