edit: especially if you did a 1:26 in Australia
just lower the difficulty for practice (and for qualifiying as AI quali pace is faster than race pace) then increase it back up for the race.
i personally just sim practise as im lazy so it doesnt really affect me.
I finished 12th with a trash can, I don't think I need to do that.
I don't know all circuits by heart so I like to do the practices.
But also the programs are important especially in My Team if you want to upgrade your components, where do you get your points otherwise?
I just skipped the Qualifying Pace, I don't lose that many points anyway for now.
Exactly, so far after 3 GP I can complete all practice programs except Qualifying Pace it's not normal lol.
Can confirm. Practice and races are a walk in the park while qualifying pace makes me want to scream as loud as possible.
Practice program qualifying pace seems benchmarked against top tier competition, even with lower ranked teams or "My Team"-cars.
I can't figure out if it's caused by the speed of the car being lowered by only running "HOTLAP" ERS instead of giving us the ability to use "overtake" or what's actually going on, but my laptimes in that particular program are 1 second or more slower than the same car setup during the actual qualifying runs. Something's wrong here.
Practice sessions overall are prettty weird when you run faster than your "group" but somehow it's not enough. - Well, duh my competition are Haas and Williams not Mercedes.
Overall I find it easier to just "simulate" for points and ignore all together.
I just bought F1 2020, created a New Team, I can't even get a time near 1.26:
I tried AI set at 110: they ask Qualifying Pace of 1.24, hell I even saw 1.21 one time.
AI at 80: 1.26 (still can't get even close with around 1.28, 1.29 - Full Traction assist)
AI at 40: 1.28 (this one I was able to get P16)
I thought the staff would take our time to help us progress and drive better, but no:
like skiing, they see what we do, then they say after your first lesson "OK, you should go down this Triple Diamond trail and break your neck."
They don't take in consideration the car we have (if the starting car is ♥♥♥♥...)
How was I able to get purple records in F1 games like 2013 and earlier versions like F1 World GrandPrix (I was like 10 y.o.) and not in this 2020 version?
I don't want to lower AI to make them slower and win: I want to know how the hell am I supposed to please the team and sponsors with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ car, as they expect unrealistic records?
Sounds like you understand how George Russel feels.. It's happening in real life with GR, so it's not as unrealistic as you think.
Besides, I think the higher AI difficulty is there to bring challenge to players who have maxed out their car's performance later in the field. It's always this cycle isn't it? you lower the scale, and gamers complain the AI is too easy. Then they bump it up, then players complain again that the AI is too quick and unrealistic... *sigh* can't please everyone these days, now can you.... Especially since you can just adjust the difficulty scaling accordingly. I really don't understand why that's an issue?
Too quick? drop it down... Too slow, bring it up.. It's that simple.
If we are going to compare how it is in the game with real life, then its more like you are driving the williams car with Russel as a teammate, only that for some reason his car has the same preformance as a Merc in FP and Q1-3 but a gets a his williams preformance back during the race.. Keep in mind that all the practise programs are suppose to be based off your teammates lap times in the same car as you. The problem is in the code that calculates the lap times for the practise programs.
