Beginner seeking advice
Hello,

I'm a beginner to F1 2020. So far, I've made quite some progess with my driving, but I have some problems in certain situations. The first is, that I can barely control my car once the tires hit a certain level of weardown. I'm aware that it is intended that the car should be harder to control on old tires, but this seems too extreme. In these situations, my car spins all the time, even if I'm just driving on a straight. It seems to be completely random, even if I keep the race line and use gas and brakes very carful, it happens all the same. Same goes for rain races. I really struggle to keep the car on the track. I lose to 2-3 seconds against the AI on wet tracks, when I could easily keep up with it under dry conditions. Is there a way to improve my driving under these conditions. Or is there a setup which make it easier? I already have the traction control on medium.

If you're using a controller, turn the traction control and ABS assists on. Driving full sim style is only really suitable if you're using a sim racing wheel and pedals. I've recently bought F1 2020 having been playing 2018 for the past couple of years and find that this version is significantly easier than 2018 when it comes to keeping a car on the track without assists. The cars (even the Williams) seem more planted to the track and less likely to go sideways into the barrier as you put the power down after coming out of a corner.

I'm also useless at driving in the wet and feel that the AI drivers end up with an unfair advantage in these conditions where they tend to just carry on posting consistent laps even in a downpour.

The only time the AI has an advantage is in cross over periods. In my experience they are actually quite weak in the rain. The only reason people think the AI has an advantage is because they generally don't practice driving in the rain.

And the practice bit also applies to everything else. And what are you using to control the car? Because using a keyboard is a lot more difficult than a controller or wheel because of the lack of analog controls.

For any beginner, start off with no assist and in cockpit...don't learn with bad habits like driving in T-Cam with stuff like traction control. Yes, its gonna be super hard at first but you're learning the proper way...don't be like 99 % of the casuals that play this game.

We don't know if the OP is playing with a wheel or a controller. Personally, I would play with TC and ABS turned on if I was using an X-box controller as the analogue triggers don't have much travel between off and full and it makes feathering the throttle and brakes very difficult.

You'd seriously play Mario Kart with a controller?! You need a DD drive wheel and 3 screen setup to do a hardcore sim title like that justice:steamfacepalm:

$150 on a wheel?...lol that's not really a wheel..mine is $700 and I consider it just a mid range wheel.

I note that I wrote "upwards" and since most low end wheels start in that price range its the value I chose. Aside from the cult you might also want to take classes in english grammar.

On the topic of low travel, everyone using the controller should seriously turn throttle and braking linearity up to about 50% to fix this
