Setting Up Your Stints On Race Day
When starting the grand prix, and choosing my tactics for what tyres to use on the stints section, I have not been able to change what type of tyre to use on the first stint. I can change the tyre type on any other stint, but never the first one. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening, because I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Which position did you qualify? You can't change the starting tire if you're under the Top 10, in that case you use the tire in which you set the fastest lap in Q2.

Except if quali was in rain (and you used intermediates/rain tires), or the race starts in rain.

Did you qualify within the Top 10? If yes, then you've to use the tyre you've set the fastest lap on in one shot quali or short quali or on a full quali the tyres you've set the fastest lap on in Q2.

If you qualify in the top 10 you are locked into using the tire you set your fastest lap on.

If you are using the official 3 tier quali format Q1, Q2, Q3 then the above still holds true, however, it is the tire you set your fastest lap in Q2.

If you don't get out of Q1 or Q2 then you have free will to use any tire you want. If you advance out of Q2 and make it to Q3 then you are locked into the tire you set your fastest lap in Q2.


This is RL FIA regulation.
