ERS/Push To Overtake Management Options
Have to say, loving the game.
Very minor quality of life issue I have with regards to the topic, why isn't the Overtake button a push (and hold) rather than a push to enable, push to disable?

Secondly, I've never been much for managing my ERS modes, and I liked the automatic management of the ERS in 2019, but the result of enabling this option is I cannot use the Overtake button functionality at all.

Would be nice to have options for the above. Thanks!

I believe the mistake you are making and many others is that you think ERS still operates like it did in F1 2019. It does not. Codemasters have changed it to mirror real life F1 Cars where ERS Deployment and Harvesting is automatically done via mapping and software. It's not manual and never has been, which is why F1 drivers have been so critical of the 2019 Game. So this year there is no manually adjust of ERS, no need to make a million changes a lap.

However the menu and assist options, still confuses people as it is called ERS Assist On/Off, however this year all that does is basically make the game automatically decided when to push and use the overtake button during a lap and take the option away from the player. You really need to make sure ERS Assist is turned off. In game the only time you as a player need to make an adjustment is in Qualifying where in the MFD Menu you'll have an option to put ERS into a Special 'Hot Lap' mode just for doing qualifying, basically the Party Mode that teams like Mercedes and Ferrari have in real life. Other wise there is no ERS options for you to change and it'll always say Auto or Mode 1, so if you want that Overtake Button back in your control turn off the ERS Assist option. It won't effect anything else because the normal deployment and harvesting is auto anyway in F1 2020.

I was wondering the same thing. Thanks cwattyeso for your thorough explanation!

Yeah, thanks!
Still would love to have an option to hold the overtake button rather than toggle it though..
