In races you only got the Overtake button like it is irl
if so, Overtake mode is bound to a button, you dont select if through the ERS option in the MFD
because overtake button is mapped by default, you shouldnt have needed to set one unless your on certain wheels.
other than your doing something wrong i have no idea why you cant do it as it works fine for everyone else.
there is 2 threads on here with this topic and the otherone people were trying to manually change it like 2019 instead of using the overtake button.
for clarity you should not be setting a button for it in MFD Shortcuts tab.
under control scheme, scroll all the way down, it says "overtake" default bind is L1/LB
that is the only ERS control you get during a race, it is not like F1 2019 where you can switch modes during a race.
the auto/manual in assits just means the AI will handle when to use the overtake button instead of you.
its basically just a slightly longer lasting KERS button.
Example: My Button 6 on wheel is my Overtake button.
