Practise programs too hard
Does anybody else think the practise programs are too hard? I had a target for qualifying to achieve a 1:22:8 around melbourne at difficulty 100. Getting that laptime would've got me 2nd place in the session, in a car which should be around the back. I don't think those times are right

I have to say the ERS program seems a bit hard considering it's only one button, I seem to be behind the delta time a lot

Actual laptime for p19 was a 1:23:422, so a margin of 6 tenths. I do think something should be changed here, I did a 1:23:100 and that's with maximum engine power

How do you do the tire and fuel management ones? It seems to not matter how I turn, brake, release or whatever, my rating almost never moves (green almost red all lap long).

for me personally i am ahead for most of the lap but anywhere medium speed or low speed all the time is lost.

So for qually i was on 100% difficulty and did a 1.22.7 (mercedes engine) which seemed completely fine. it wasnt a perfect lap at all but a good reference. it put me in p17 and only about 4 tenths of p11-12.

Last year i ran at about 103% which i will be heading for this year aswell.

So for now i suggest probably turning down the difficulty considerably for the practice programs since i couldnt even do the race program with 100% difficulty.

(will update after the race)

So done the race and also felt fine at 100%. Finished in P13 infront of the williams, alpha tauri and alfa romeo. i think i can probably bump it up to 103 and it will be fine for the race aleast, maybe adjust qually per track.

So overall it is fine but the practice programs are way too hard. probably need to turn the difficulty down by 10-15 for the practice

Training mission lap times seem to be way more agressive than F1 2019, that's for sure.

You can still do it manually in the assists.

Personally I just reduce my difficulty level by a lot to pass them. Otherwise they are almost impossible, especially the fuel program.

its the same thing every year, some of the programs are unbalanced as hell and if you are used to difficulty number XY for Q and R, in those practice programs they want from you unrealistic pace. In previous years lot of people had to have separate difficulty set for trainings and other number for Q and R in order to balance all three sessions

Did they improve the AI as well or is it just the practice program times that got jacked up? Because in 2019 I could easily perfect the race pace program and at least complete the qualify program on difficulty 90 but now I did both on difficulty 80 and after a billion flashbacks I just managed to complete the race pace program and hit the exact required time in the qualify program. Sure, it's the myteam car so its garbage to drive but I still had to drive that thing to the absolute limits.

Ok, the times in practice programs are definitely dodgy. I got the qualifying program in exactly 1.25.208, which was the required time for 19th place on 80 difficulty. But after qualifying (yes, I know it has a higher engine mode) I had a 1.24.6 in Q1 which was enough for P11 and in Q2 it would've been P14 but because of my older tyres and a slightly sloppy lap I ended in P15. And on none of these laps I even tried as hard as I did in the practice program.

The practice programs for F1 2020 seems to be harder than usual. I've clocked in a few dozen hours in F1 2019 with only using the automatic gearbox assist and nothing else (since I play with a controller), and it was easier to finish the Fuel & Tyre Management programs, heck, even the Track Acclimatization was easier in 2019. For some reason even if you're just a CENTIMETER from the middle of the corner boxes in acclimatization, you will get a green instead of a purple and that pisses me off.

I've done this as well in MyTeam and yes its understandable that the car is ♥♥♥♥ at the start of the season. But like Dreagon said, I also had to use a billion flashbacks just to perfect a few of those damn programs. It seems as if Codemasters made it more "realistic" but ended up making the game way harder regardless of difficulty or experience of the player.

Just missed my qualifying target by 2.2 seconds, yet was faster by a tenth than my teammate on the same tyres lol.
I have to agree, Practice difficulty scaling seems to be way off, even in F1 2019 it was annoying at times to say the least.

Almost feels like practices need to be done with -10 from Race difficulty or so

Same here. Had to set a 1:22:7 for my qualifying practice program.
Fastest lap at the session end was a 1:23:0 by a Ferrari. How am I supposed to set a 3 tenths faster lap time in the by performance 3rd to last car?

I wish we could disable practice programs completely, I find them a terribly boring chore. I just want to practice and learn the track at my own pace, without worrying about not earning enough R&D points to stay competitive during the season.
boenk Jul 7, 2020 @ 12:11pm
Why is there no simulate practice button in my team? In F1 2019 I did like 3 practice sessions in total because it is boring af and now I have to do them or I get zero resource points? wut?

€: Just entered the 2nd race weekend and I can now simulate the session, guess it was glitched or something..

I definitely agree the lap times are more difficulty based than team based. My team being a back marker should have reasonable times for the start of the weekend. I was pushing a consistent 1:28.000 around Melbourne and they were expecting a 1:27.000. No matter how hard I pushed the car I could never make up another second. I even tried the highest engine setting and overtake and could only really push out a couple of tenths extra. My teammate even was only running a 1:29.200 so I don't know why the practice programs were expecting a 1:27. I'm on about 90 difficulty just so everyone knows for comparison.
