wall upgrades and effect on Temples and Houses
Noticed that if you build a small temple inside a mud wall, all is well, Houses upgrade and workers join the temple.
BUT if you upgrade the mud walls, the temple workers down tool as if there is no wall, also houses graphically go back a step even though population stays the same. Once you finish the wall the workers go back. Houses get a lick of plaster and paint.
Feels like a bug.

Did not notice this. Calls for a test run!!! LOL

thats bc whilst wall is upgrading there is no wall till its finished. common sense really. i never build mud walls, just go straight to brick

I can't duplicate this behavior. I've tried upgrading multiple sections of wall, and still no luck. I even see the wall upgrading, not disappearing.

Could this be when adding a gate?

It happened twice same game run through but from an earlier save. I had a complete mud wall. Built the brick temple. Then clicked upgrade on all the mud walls/gates. Set the builders and transporters off. Then noticed houses downgrading and temple stopped working, both saying walls needed.
I get @ Pops comment and it does self correct. It just feels a bit wrong and may be why some have reported Temple workers being idle.

when a mud wall is upgraded to brick, the wall is no longer there until the wall is rebuilt, so the housing loses the benefit from being within a wall

Had hoped the patch might have addressed this annoyance. It was strange:
Complete mud wall, houses upgraded Temple manned and working.
Started to upgrade to brick. Initially all seemed well then houses downgraded and temple stopped. next run I'll try a section at a time. Or maybe build brick OUTSIDE Mud, then demolish!
I did pre-deliver loads of bricks to the walls when I thought it was working.
Lets face it in real life you dont knock your house down when the fence blows down do you?

I just tried a few times to duplicate this behavior. This may sound like a stupid question, but are you demolishing then building brick for each section? Or using the upgrade function?

I'd like to try to help figure it out.

On the bright side, I finally have people working my small temple...haven't seen that in a while...

Thanks for your interest!
I am using the upgrade function.
Due to sound issues I have done a complete clean reinstall and deleted all the save games.
Currently I am just finishing a mud wall. Will build a brick temple and let it go for a while, make sure I have workers. Then try the upgrade again and see what happens, I'll let you know. What happens.

Very Strange. This run from a totally clean install is behaving as expected. Priests still working and houses staying level 2.
Done half the walls now.
Assume I must have had a dodgy save or something but it was on several runs.
Only other difference is I'm upgrading section at a time not several.

Spoke too soon, but have identified the problem. If you save whist a section is being upgraded , when you continue the game thinks the wall is incomplete and
"downgrades" houses and Templeworkers. ! can live with that I guess.

I experienced a clear glitch today, when upgrading a wall. It kept stopping and restarting, and visually flashing in a zebra-like pattern. I watched it for a while, and while my transporters kept delivering bricks--they filled the quota more than twice--and my workers kept working, the wall never finished. Worse, they kept my builders from moving on to other sections.

Eventually, I tried deleting the wall section completely, but it wouldn't delete. Did a restart and still the same problem, although this time it solved itself several minutes later. I was going to play through and see what the effects were, but...

I did not notice whether or not my other buildings were downgrading during the restart, though...

Love the new patch. The crops graphics are a huge improvement, and I noticed that even as my pop approached 6K, there was much less lag. {Note to dev, though: A keyboard shortcut for wall upgrades would significantly smooth the process.)
