I'm still going through Spark 2- beat it twice. I have noticed- the combat is extremely simplistic. Basically there's no need to here use your special to heal yourself unless you goof on a tour run and need to heal. I think to remind new or casual people the ropes, a prompt should come up to say 'use special to heal,' otherwise it's useless. Tapping attack and blocking to get your 3x is all you need.
Not complaining too much though, the boss fights are faster all for it, they just all end up feeling same-y.
I'm all for combat changes for the 3D Spark. I noticed in the trailer Spark has an upper cut and a down attack in air that manipulates enemy placement- pretty cool. His attacks are neatly illustrated to show where he's hitting. I like it. It'll be a day one buy from me!
While I do find the combat appealing. It's just button mashing and parrying. which I guess it's going to be fixed in Spark 3 since it will require different ways to fight the enemies.
But I also want challenging bosses that don't feel samey at all. Which was the problem with Spark 2's combat.
Parrying can break the game and any obstacles except lava in Spark 2. Which I guess it's toned down with parrying functioning like Spark 1 but then it will sacrifice the mobility of Spark 2's parry.
It also has these quicktime events when the enemy grabs you or something like that and you have to press individual buttons to get released or something like that which is taken from Metal Gear Rising.
