Pressing A on my controller opens text chat when it should be break.

It makes controllers a pain to use and driving with a keyboard is bad enough. Also why cant I set the back button to build mode? This controller support seems gimped just because you cant set stuff to some settings. It does not even try to work well. This would be different if it was not out of Early Access.

Yup. "A" button on a controller (or any button set to "A" in steam controller settings) opens chat.

Still an issue in 2023 btw. It makes left-click also open up chat which makes the game unplayable.

To fix, close your game, go in your local file and open open "Input.ini" file in

 C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\RoboBuild\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor 

Find the two action mappings called "system_chat" like below

 ActionMappings=(ActionName="system_chat",bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=F2) 

One is for the keyboard, the other is the gamepad. At the end where it says "Key=F2", change to "Key=None". The gamepad might already say None which is fine.

You won't be able to chat, but it won't conflict with controls. You could also try to put in a different key and see if that works if you want to keep chat.
