You need to activate it each time you use it but most people (me included) do it like its a busy action. Means aslong the crew is on the station you can use periscope or hydrophone if you have spend the inital cost
same here, i dothe same for diving or turning, cause i usually have correct course many times when hunting
question, what is best way to deal with minfield, full reverse, dive, r turn to get out?
Short answer is each time its used it needs activation, the peri/hydro is active when you need to adjust an order in the app other than Course or Speed, else you can keep it up as long as you like. It takes an order each time you raise the periscope. Previous responses as they have stated, have stated house rules. Also understand that it does increase your chance of being spotted (as it did in real life).
This is truly a fantastic game, just played my first 4 player game and it was awesome, even the two girls enjoyed it seeing it as a problem to be solved instead of a war themed game (which it carries well also)
Course change is not instant, you will turn to the heading set so if you are moving you will turn in an arc. I am not clear on the odds of hitting a mine or if anything besides duration in the quadrant influences that chance. Best to get out of the quadrant super fast and the way you came in would be the fastest way.
