For many, it's quite an attractive city. For someone with agoraphobia, open streets, city squares or plazas can be challenging. Such places can give them the feeling that they're in a situation which is difficult to escape from. Agoraphobia comes in many forms, and the fear of open spaces is one well-known example.

Several options of our latest simulation are based on both research and the way our own clients experience their fears and what could help them practice. After proper testing under the right conditions, we have developed this VR-simulation. We have included the following options, each of which can alter the way one can experience the simulation. Always keep into account the individual you are treating and how you know them.

• The therapist can make the pedestrians roaming the city disappear and appear. The presence of other people can be comforting to some, but add to the anxiety of others.
  
• The amount of fog can be adjusted. The vastness of the environment can feel less obvious in thick fog, but fog could also give one a sense of being less in control and less able to navigate.
  
• The height of buildings can be adjusted. This alters the sense of vastness in the city. High buildings can be of comfort, but could also have an intimidating effect.
  
• The time of day can be adjusted. This has an effect on the shadows cast by buildings and other objects, but of course also on the amount of daylight. Around nighttime, the city itself will light up automatically and realistically.
  
• The client can move around the city (or be moved around by the therapist), using the Touch Controls. This brings the risk of VR-sickness. It's recommended to pause the simulation at the first sign of dizziness or nausea. This simulation also comes with a slider controlling a vignette effect that helps lessen VR-sickness. This is called Tunneling.

Many more options can be added in the future and we're always happy to receive suggestions.
