(Dlcs unlock the cards which then the player will get in a couple of days of normal playing, how`s that a money grab compared to the usual Booster Pack scam?)
If Abrakam is already struggling, gratuitous bad publicity can be the nail in the coffin, i get why the got pissed
That said ... those are some troubling news and the Devs aren`t really helping themselves with takedown threats...
There's been no additional info from the devs and we're now into August.
Right now this still remains a "He said, she said" issue but when one party isn't being forthcoming with details, and one party *is*, you tend to side with the party that is coming up with the information.
That would be SidAlpha.
As someone with money in this game I would advise to treat this project with severe caution until Abrakam can come up with something more definitive than "Trust us! We can't say why but we're the devs! Trust us!"
They posted this response earlier today:
https://www.faeria.com/news/announcements/312-faeria-friday-console-update-and-more
I read it and it still answers nothing beyond "Trust us! We're the devs! We're taking legal action against SidAlpha!"
This is stuff everyone *knew*, Sid's even given out a contact address so they can facilitate said legal action -faster-, so if this does get as far as court (spoiler: If it gets further than summary dismissal I'll eat a shoe), then we can reasonably expect Leonard French to cover it.
What it doesn't state is if they (Abrakam) are -fine-, you'd expect that if they were financially good to go, what it doesn't state is why they even referenced details in their contact with the contractor that would imply financial difficulties.
All of this mess could be solved with some transparency around their current situation.
Their post just rehashes a lot of what we already know.
The developer being paid is something to the good. What I'm talking about and this is pretty simple stuff:
"We're not in financial distress. What was mentioned in the email was a simple mistranslation and we intend to clean that up once we're in a position (legal team pending) to do so. Once we have more to say on the subject, we'll make sure to clarify the matter and put an end to any possible rumours."
This would shoot SidAlpha's argument in the head, reassure the backers, and at the same time provide a little bit of much needed transparency.
I've done that in one paragraph.
I'm not even a PR expert and I've just demonstrated how a little bit of transparency can make a lot of difference.
This is *not hard*.
