Command: Modern Operations

Command: Modern Operations

Is Tacview must requirement for this game?
Is a person without Tacview, or only with standard version of Tacview cannot play CMO?

Or are we still can play CMO yet cannot see 3d features?

What is the merit of Tacview in CMO? Worth to invest for advanced version?

I have CMANO so I have 50% discount, yet, with advanced Tacview, it is still challenging price :steamsad:

You can play CMO without it but will not have that extra window that shows a real-time 3D view.

Thank you. Is that real-time 3D view essential? I mean, is this an eye-candy effect? Or is this can be an important element which impact on difficulty or progress of the game?

It's a God's Eye View...Personally CMANO/CMO is a War Room style simulator...like Harpoon was...I really don't see the point.

It is just extra information. Not essential, but definitely cool. In fact fog of war is not currently implemented in tacview--so it may be too much information (spoilers) if abused

This is how a dev described it in another thread:

Originally posted by Dimitris:
Currently Tacview shows all units present in a scenario, both friendly and otherwise. This is how Tacview has always worked since it was originally designed as an AAR tool rather than a real-time visualizer.

Does this mean it can be used to "cheat"? Yes. But Command has always made it easy for the player to cheat (e.g. open a scen/save in ScenEdit mode and be able to see _and_ change everything). Tacview's current omniscience does not change this.

Are there mitigations? Yes. For example if you keep the camera only on your own units and avoid zooming-out, seeing other units/contacts is much more difficult.

Players who wish that true fog-of-war be implemented in the Tacview window can vote for it as a requested feature in our new live poll: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4709794

Thanks!

I don't like that it tells you a lot of information you would not normally see, like the exact position and type of units that you haven't been able to identify visually or with radar yet. It is functionally kind of a cheat. It is up to you to determine if you would prefer to have the 3D functionality to better visualize the battlefield, knowing that it will make the game easier.

It is really cool to see how much information is actually being modelled for all of those radar contacts though behind the scenes

It does, however, add additional visual interest to the game. I'm really enjoying using TacView, it adds something I didn't realize I would enjoy as much as I do.

Which version of TacView would you recommend? Standard or Advanced?
Chris Nov 14, 2019 @ 10:53am
I don't have it yet. But I believe advanced is required, the standard let's you use advance features for a trial period

Advanced is the only version that works with CMO. Standard unforutantely does not.

Also Tracview Advanced purchased through Steam will be able to be used also for any flight sim DCS, IL-2,Prepare 3d, X-Plane-11 and have the perk in CMO also.

Already observed this to where a unit was seen in Tacview before the FLIR captured it.

Do they plan to implement FOG in Tacview?

The devs have a running poll on their forums for what features they should work on next over here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4709794&mpage=2&key=

Currently, "Tacview- Implement Fog of War" is winning! Join the forum and vote there as well so the devs can see the support this feature has.

Thanks. I voted.

Would also love to see real time MP. Makes no sense to me that Harpoon had this feature and Command does not.
