Updated textures and elevation files for CMO+Tacview now available
Hi all,

You can now download updated high-resolution texture and elevation tiles for Tacview, for use with CMO.

Links and instructions here: https://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876

Please don't be a bandwidth hog, take only the files you will need.

Thanks.

How do you know what files cover what area?

Edit: The file names are coordinates

Please consider sharing these files with bittorrent (for Tacview terrain tiles and CMO maps tiles).
Let players share them (leech them).

@Dimitris

I tried to install these files Tacview v1.8.4:
\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command - Modern Operations\Resources\Tacview\Data\Terrain - SRTM3 and Textures

and the usual way:
C:\ProgramData\Tacview\Data\Terrain - SRTM3 and Textures

Starting Tacview standalone i.e. for DCS it works. no issues.

However! I can't get it to work in/with CMO. The Tacview window only displays the basic terrain.
I tried ".hgt" and ".srtm" file formats for both SRTM3 and SRTM30 Bathymetry (latter of which which were not read by Tacview at all) for the terrain.
And I tried the texture packs as well as ".jpg" and as ".webp" files.

An exception it does load the ".dat" files in CMO/Tacview which one can download from the Tacview website.

Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong here?

Hi, I'm also new to CMO + Tacview, I tried applying Tacview add-ons (https://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876) but without success.

I tried this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt06zHzPRlI, to improve the tiles on Tacview, it seems to me that it works. Zooming in on the 3D View it seems to me that the details of Tacview are better.

@*NCS*-Gigius Thanks - after looking at that video, and checking my Tacview+CMO again (specifically the Alps and Reunion Island (in reference to another Tacview video) I noticed the high detail tiles working like a charm....It just takes a while to load.

I have to give the webp textures another try. So far i only got them working when loading a limited set, but it might again just be my lack of patience ... :D

Thanks again for the video!

Glad you solved it, best regards.

how can i download multiple tac texture files at once, instead of one at a time, takes forever lol?

try "simple mass downloader" for chrome for example - still took quite a while but worked like a charm

It would be great if some kind person made a nice, easy installer of all this, so us technically-challenged types can just do it in a click or two.
Do you have to download all of these one by one why not make a ZIP with everything loaded ?

They say on the site that they don't want us to just grab all the Tacview files because of bandwidth issues. Fair enough. But how can you tell which Tacview files you need? They seem to just be random file names?

Thanks.

On Tacview add-ons page under 'Featured' you can download Mapview 1.4.6 (by Jacques ‘Detox’ Deyrieux). This is a great tool for downloading tiles by coordinates you enter yourself. I downloaded Skyvector map tiles to use in Tacview through the tool and can confirm it works.

Not sure what you mean by "add-ons page".
