Keep in mind that the new tiles are download from a server, so there may be a delay especially if there is a heavy load.
Already-downloaded tiles should show up pretty quick, especially on an SSD.
I have the game installed on a brand new Samsung 860 EVO Ssd and it doesn't seem to be the case at all. I don't know the criteria for caching, but even just playing around with zoom in the same area pretty often leads to just waiting around for a non-blurry mess to load.
Okay. What is your good / not good threshold?
Can we preload map pack before playing?
I'd be happy with a waiting time of just a few seconds. Main complaint is that pretty often it looks like the game forgets it has downloaded those same tiles as it takes a long time to show them again.
Yeah that's kind of what I meant. Could be the servers can't handle the load, which is something that needs looked at.
it doesn't appear that the game saves the downloaded tiles, I zoom in and out after the tile has been downloaded and it takes ages for it to load, the game is located on a 1TB samsung 960evo with 400gb free.
I understand the full map data for just one layer might be upwards of 500GB, though, so I definitely don't want that hanging round on the computer indefinitely, unless I commit a dedicated HDD to it.
Hey, is the download of map layers a temporary thing and i have to redownload them every time i reopen the game or start a new mission?
Ive also noticed that when zooming in and out on the same tiles, it still takes a second to load the new layer, which is pretty uncomforting
