Waves
Any similar games on Steam?
I am pretty addicted to Waves, are there any similar games on Steam which use this style of graphics and twin stick controls other than Geometry Wars (which rocks also)?

Most of those aren't really games like this though.

Like Pixeljunk Shooter for instance. That game is crap and hardly a game like this. IF you click on that tag it only shows aobut 9 games and none of them are really TS arcade shooters except for Scoregasm that shows up on there. A lot of them are overhead shooters, or really crappy shooters.

Scoregasm is a pretty good one actually and it's cheap (Like you can get it for $1 quite alot so not much reason to pay $5 for it). Not as good as this, but it at least fits the genre and has a good number of levls and challenges i it. It's a true TS shooter though. It has the bomb for close quarters deal sort of like this too. Sadly, the leaderboards don't seem to work anymore, or they need a fix again. It has Easy, normal, HArd and Insane level trees (these are completley different levels for each difficulty) and each of the 30- or so levels have a "challenge" too that makes you do strange things to get the medals. It's really a good deal for the cost.

This dude reviewed about 8 of them a while back and does a good job of it. PRetty much recommends Waves the highest though. There really aren't that many decent ones on Steam .

just to get the ball rolling here:

Mutant Storm Reloaded
Scoregasm
Geometry Wars: RE

There are a lot more arena twin stick shooters on Steam, but these have a somewhat similar graphic style that you are looking for (and there are probably more with that style that I am forgetting).

Yeah i know, it's a great game.
"Bonkers" means it's crazy or mad or insane.

Ultratron is one that I really like, but I would agree that the current price of € 10 is a bit much for it so you'd have to wait for a sale. I got it a while ago in the Humble Puppy Bundle together with all other games from Puppy Games.

I know this is a very old thread - but Particle Mace is interesting. Same vectorish graphics, a bit rough around the edges but creative. Lots of gamestyles/achievements, and it should be pretty cheap...

While not a "single room" twin stick shooter, Nex Machina is the absolute pinnacle of twin sticks. It's a masterpiece by the team that made the Super Stardust games and they even had the father of twin stick games, Eugene Jarvis, CREATOR OF ROBOTRON, help them with the game. Unlike Waves, it has a memory component as well, so you will remember where enemies spawn from, and I say you WILL remember because memorising in that game is done nicely, it's not frustrating like old games where you had to memorize stuff. I actually don't own it on Steam as my laptop would never run it but I played the ever loving **** out of it on PS4 and made it to 4th in the world on the first difficulty mode, which is not easy, and 12th on second difficulty mode. Beyond satisfying, I thought maxing out the highscore on Waves back in the day was a huge accomplishment but what I did on Nex Machina was so much bigger. Get it if you system can run it.
