Hi, after closer inspection of your log file, I see that "Parallels Display Adapter (WDDM)" is listed as your graphics device. Are you running Windows on Mac hardware?

From the errors reported in the logs, it looks like no Display devices have been recognised by the time it attempts to set a resolution, which throws an exception. I would recommend updating your graphics drivers / Parallels installation, but this isn't a configuration we officially support, so unfortunately there is a chance the game will not work on your system.

Hi, sorry to hear you've had some trouble - we'd recommend the following steps, which have worked for some other players with Display issues on start up:

1. Navigate to:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\LocalLow\MonteBearo\BannersOfRuin\Settings
(You can type %appdata% into Windows Explorer, then go up a folder to get into LocalLow).

2. Open "Settings.monte", and change the "_selected" field's value in "Display" to 1.

Hopefully this might resolve your start-up issue and allow you to adjust your display settings afterwards in the game's settings.

Please let us know how you get on!

Thank you for replying! I've changed and saved the value to 1, and I restarted the game through steam. The situation persists unfortunately, and when I check the setting file again, the value is automatically switched to 0. Very weird.
Is there anything I can do with this issue?

Thank you for replying! Yeah that is true that I am running windows on Mac using parallels in order to play some windows-only games, so far I haven't met many issues of this approach. I'm not sure how to update my graphic drivers, as it seems to be inherent to Parallels, and it's quite expensive to continuously keep Parallels up to date given the fact that it may not solve the problem. I'll probably just wait till I have my windows pc to enjoy your game in the future.
