But yeah a remaster of DotD would be great, especially for VR.
To start they remove some of the protection from windows that old games used and that's even if you can get it to install.
Microsoft could put a built in emulator to allow you to install and play the old games.
PC's have more than enough resources to run an emulator and a old game.
I compared it to like the Sumarian language. Sumarian was a language written by humans long a go but just because we're humans doesn't mean we can read old languages.
So maybe modern computers can't play old games because the programming is too ancient for them to understand.
Basically windows has evolved so much since 1997 that running DOTD on a modern PC would be the equivalent of trying to run a video cassette on your spotify account. lol
Windows 7 was the last OS that would run the game with some tweaking, W8/10 just won't run it.
But digital content is... well, digital. I mean, I guess it's like trying to learn ancient Sumerian. Just because it's a language we once had doesn't mean everyone today can understand it... but still you'd think there be such emulators and programs to play games of yesteryear's.
Still a remake would be nice. Especially VR.
Only way I can see a DotD game happening is a fan remake. And given I barely made much headway with my Unity projects I doubt I can spearhead such a project.
I mean, yeah, I could probably remake DotD by myself if I actually played the game well enough to be familiar with the layout, the gameplay and if I had the textures and maps of the game I could perhaps recreate from but I don't have any of that. But I don't know nearly enough on Unity to make such a game.
