Tyrell Challenges
Is anyone else having trouble completing the Tyrell Challenges. Im finding them exceedingly difficult. I cant think of any game ive played where ive had 15 land army and without diplomacy to make alliances im constantly under attack from martell, lannister and baratheon.

Luckily I did it without problem by going to Lannisport at turn 2. So taking either Lannisport or Sunspear early on would help you. But it depends on the AI's behavior as well...

It helps to get as many castles as possible in round 1 and hope for mustering. Then try placing 3 units in the middle of the land so that they can support all other surrounding areas without loosing your own units. 1 Footman on the surrounding areas is enough to defend mostly.

I did it by heading east and taking Sunspear on the second turn. Had the entire south of the continent to myself. Finished with 17/15 troops.

So do you guys recommend rushing both West/East Summer Sea, and use Siege Engines to take out Martell's capital to weaken him to a point he cannot possibly recover?

The main thing to remember is you’re not playing A Game of Thrones. You are completing a challenge using the A Game of Thrones rule set. In this case you are wanting places to be when the muster action occurs and enough of a supply chain to muster. It worked out for me that I took out Dorne from bouncing back, but to be honest that wasn’t my prime objective. I just wanted to spread at first incase supply readjustment did not come up. I went after Dorne instead of Lannister as the middle of the board would have been far more contested.

Thanks for the input. I was able to complete "Growing Strong" while going for the middle of the board, trying to get one or two uncontested support hubs, while spreading out my troops and trying to get high supply: Blackwater, Searoad Marches and Prince's Pass are great for this. Bidding mostly for King's Court, while Fiefdoms would be very good for the purpose of this challenge, on this challenge rarely i can get enough Power Tokens to outbid on more than 1 Influence Track (Damn you Starks and Martells). Another thing that helped me was not caring at all about ships, except for the starting ship on the Redwyne Straits.

I've yet to complete Expanding Influence, but i'm getting the hang of it. At least i'm fairly sure i won't need 10+ tries as i did with "Growing Strong".

I feel the Tyrell challenges are the most difficult to achieve, since not only you need good luck with the Westeros cards, but you need to really understand the game mechanics and the card battle game in order to beat the challenges. I'm liking it but it can be very frustrating. The Greyjoy challenge was easy to do. The Lannister/Baratheon were, i think, middle-of-the-pack difficulty: the wildfire one can be tricky at first, but it's doable. "Dead Marches" will seem impossible at first, but once you understand the AI lack of initiative and agression, you can takeover Stark - Secure Narrow Sea - Cruise to victory, as Greyjoy (who is normally the most competent AI on skirmishes) will be all over the place and unable to be the strong, consistent 4-5 castles grabber.
