Asynchronous play?
Is anyone aware if the game will allow asynchronous play? I'll be challenged to get my friends together for a few hour session, but if we have like 40 day timers and taking turns while others are offline I'll pick it up for sure.

I wonder which games have that feature...

There is a player clock (from 1 hour to 7 days) that "determines the total time you have to take actions during a game, if the time runs out you are replaced by a bot".

It's in-game so I guess that if you plan to leave the game to come back a day later you can't and will be replaced by a bot that will finish the game in your place. Unless an option is available like "save your game" but only for private games I suppose. It's an intersting feature, it'd be nice to have it considering the games can last hours...

The current player clock has a min of 1 hr and max of 7 days?

If the released version has the same for life games, then that's too much. I think 5 to 15 mins should be it for live games. Otherwise, the games will drag on for too long.

I think he was thinking outloud how the concept you are asking would work, outside a Play-By-Email.

Came here to ask the same question. I play Twilight Struggle on Steam because it allows asynchronous play. I can't usually commit to hours playing a game, and I hate the idea of cutting a game short with no way to pick it back up.

I'd love to get six friends into an asynch game of this. But if that's not possible, I highly doubt I'd ever get this "to the table."

Hello everyone. Asynchronous play is currently not implemented in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition due to the way in which turns & play functions. While this may change in the future, we are not committing to this feature right now.

Hey there Twitch870. I answered this in another thread, but to clarify in the one I made the original comment in;
Asynchronous play is implemented in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition, but unfortunately there is no notification system in place to warn you of your turn happening unless you have the game client open. While this may change in the future, we recommend that you only use asyncronous play if you will be paying close attention to and checking in regularly on any open games you have.

If you're going to add asyncronous play, why not add a notification system? I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be in the game.

Might be doable with some clever integration with a phone app if you want something "easy" and basic

There is a notification system in the game client when you have it open (not the match specifically), however unfortunately we are unable to notify you while you do not have the client open due to limitations. We are investigating what can be done regarding this, however for the time being we only recommend that you use the Asynchronous play feature if you will be opening the client regularly to check back in on your matches.

So there's an in-game notification system and you're investigating an out-of-game solution? Nice, hopefully you guys find a way to make it work.
That's too bad. A huge swath of potential players simply cannot organize their friends to all play at the same time. I would steer you here as an example of a successful implementation of this feature.

I think if the devs made this a feature in the future it would turn gold dust. Play on mobile etc whenever you want.

Typically in a game that can be this long, having Asynch have a longer turn timeframe would be a good thing as most players would/could commit to playing their turn once a day. Limit it to friends only or unranked matches and give the host the option to replace a non-responsive player with a bot. Giving players more options like this expands the possibility of having people play the game in multiplayer. Many games that have an asunch option have in turn response options so this should possible if the time out timeframe is long enough. I know I email folks that I play with when they have a pending action even if the game can't.

Hi. With some friends we can't get the game to run asynchronously. If we exit the game there is no way to re-enter. Could someone tell me if it is a bug, the function is not implemented, or is it another problem? @asmodee
