game companions - spoilers warning!!!
so depending how you play the game there are certain chars that you can recruit which have decent perks due to my random playstyle and the fact that i like to take things easy and slow only managed to get 2 .... what about you guys???

There is a mechanic as well in East Wildlands.

I've seen him on every play through, unlike Jimmy, so he may always be there.

for someone who is relatively new to the game and has no idea what you're talking about, could you guys explain what you mean but "companion". do you mean team member or some character who has some unique interaction with your character? what should I be seeing in that screenshot you posted? all i see is a guy who looks like all the others. different stats of course but i don't understand what else i should be seeing :-)

Don't know the last zone haven't been there yet BUT there are 3 special characters (from what we found out from gaming a bit) that have 4 perks and are quite good . they actually have some dialogue and a bit related to the plot.
the thing is: the 1st chick you find doing the questline JingWei you find her in the tavern after doing the event at bunker 818 (i think) but the 2nd guy which you can find is also in the 2nd zone too...needs special dialogue choices - EHM not spoilers but spoilers try not to kill the bird mask guy so save before you deliver the antibug crate that the mayor from Eagle town gives you and play around with the dialogue options
need to get the 3rd one the mechanic and see what he's specs are but from what HelloDarkness said he comes automatic like JingWei but need to get to that zone to check

ok, understand now. i got JingWei once but she took off to somewhere else so i didn't understand what good she was. i wanted to redo some other things so i restarted from an earlier save. i'll go check her out again now that i know she has a purpose in the game. thanks

1. FIRST COMPANION : JING WEI will sit in eagle town tavern ...tried resetting the mercs and she was still on the list after everyone got swapped...she will try and leave the group if the sadness gets too much, just pay her 1k or something each time don't let her leave the group
2. SECOND COMPANION: JIMMY you'll find him in the big town tavern of the 3rd area IF you got the job to escort him and did his little side mission
3. third companion..ummmm Darkness knows more about him

I actually don't know if they have a bigger purpose or not..haven't finished the game yet , got bored or just restarted when didn't like certain circumstances but they're nice to have..would be awesome to have a depo or something to keep them there indefinetely - even if you have to pay if you want to rehire them

I'm currently redoing the market zone sheet to include added items like the rare earth, alcohol, etc and to show the adjustment they made to light leather (for the life of me can't figure out the reasoning on that one.) Currently in Gobi but when I hit the East Wildlands again I'll get John's info.

The first two require unlocking in that they show up in the story line. The mechanic in EW, I can't for the life of me think of a time he's come up pre-completion but seems to always be there. Like the other two he has 4 stats which only you and your starting companion have and is always there, week after week, even if you perform a refresh.

Have yet to have a party that any of them fit with, so haven't used them.

John's extra slot is kind of wasted as he has two mechanic slots and 2 combat slots, and by zone 5, mercs with S/A/A can be found and as the old saying goes, 'he who serves two masters, servers neither well.' I've stuck to that philosophy with him since at that point I'm building a 9 person party and I want my combat mercs to have 3 combat traits, and my mech never sees battle... so he's just never fit my play style, unlike the first two that have not once fit my party in terms of their character... wayyy too many negatives.

Well, ok, maybe occasionally my mechanic or trader sees some combat in the first round of an arena match, but generally speaking, not much cross over between my battle crew and my support staff.

Sorry, been away. So John has 'A' level repair, mechanical, and Machine Gun, as well as the unique skill, Blood Out - which gives him +20% to hits and damage if a team member goes down in combat. The bonus lasts until the end of combat.

Am I the only one who'd like to see the special companions rebalanced? I would really like to hire Jing Wei but she and Anne hate each other and that ends up giving the caravan a -25 mood, which is not something I'm willing to deal with. And it sounds like Jimmy will be the same. I'm also not thrilled at John having combat traits for the same reasons HelloDarkness mentioned (and will likely not put him in my caravan, either).

I feel like since they are special (and have relevance to the plot), they should be as easy to fit into whatever caravan as possible so it doesn't force players to give up on some extra dialogue if they don't want an imbalanced team.

I'm see another one special companion with own main ability it's a Bet or Ben .This is a doctor in the Ampton city (3 act after desert zone)
