Or try Ca - Thul - Hu and just remove the 'a' after getting used to it.
That's what helped me.
So how the heck are you supposed to pronounce Cthulhu's name? Lovecraft said that the language of the Old Ones wasn't compatible with human speech, and so any attempt by man to pronounce Cthulhu's name would at best be an approximation. Lovecraft was inconsistent when suggesting ways to pronounce the name, but the most cited example is "khûl-lhoo," with a guttural vocalization on the first syllable. The most popular pronunciation among Cthulhu fandom seems to be "kuh-THOO-loo." ST Joshi, the publisher of Arkham House normailized the use of Kuh-Thoo-loo along with the Chaosium RPG so yes there is sort of a definitive (most accepted) pronunciation.
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
("In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.")
Cthulhu has also been spelled as Tulu, Clulu, Clooloo, Cthulu, Cthullu, C'thulhu, Cighulu, Cathulu, C'thlu, Kathulu, Kutulu, Kthulhu, Q’thulu, K'tulu, Kthulhut, Kutu, Kulhu, Kutunluu, Ktulu, Cuitiliú, Thu Thu and in many other ways. It is often preceded by the epithet Great, Dead, or Dread.
Lovecraft transcribed the pronunciation of Cthulhu as Khlûl′-hloo and said that "the first syllable [of Khlûl′-hloo is] pronounced gutturally and very thickly. The u is about like that in full; and the first syllable is not unlike klul in sound, hence the h represents the guttural thickness." S. T. Joshi points out, however, that Lovecraft gave several differing pronunciations on different occasions. According to Lovecraft, this is merely the closest that the human vocal apparatus can come to reproducing the syllables of an alien language.
Long after Lovecraft's death, the spelling pronunciation /kəˈθu:lu:/ kə-THOO-loo became common, and the role-playing game Call of Cthulhu endorsed it.
and if you have to, then you have to pronounce it "falsely".
same goes for writing his name. NEVER WRITE IT CORRECTLY.
instead write "ktulu". Metallica knew that.
