Are you serious? Steam has their agenda in these games too...Screw the customers and lets just take their money... Steam gets a kickback from all games they provide on their game client! If everyone really wanted to not pay another penny for the DLC's then they should seek a lawyer and file class action against Big Ben or whoever the makers of the game are And also Steam for allowing this kind of thievery to happen!
Yea, just keep changing the wording to make it acceptable. DLC and expansion are the same thing.
I'm actually not bothered about DLC being released that is paid for. I'm quite happy for that to happen. I just want to see some support for the game first before I flush any more money down the drain.
Please honestly, reconsider this move. We're gamers, anglers, hunters, and broke between all of that as it stands. What’s the real cost of your fan base? There are so many here, appalled at your decision to charge for further updates. Is it really worth it?
Now, let’s look at your direct competitor.
Ultimate Fishing Simulator offers their game (including all their DLCs) at $38.50 CDN. They also don't have or rely on a F2P model. They have been updating this game and adding to it since their release date of August 30th 2018. The most recent update being March 26th 2020. For their efforts they have become a 4.5 star fishing game, and have earned a score of 70 on metacritic due to this.
So let's review what you have offered.
The Fisherman - Fishing planet, is $68.99 CDN. With fishing planet as an optional source of income and development, with some clear pay walls. The F2P is very pay to play/win in the sense that, if you’re not buying baitcoins, you’re not getting to get licenses, skip time in game more than once, top gear is locked behind these pay walls as well. So a good chunk of change has been earned here. Not only that, but this game is twice the price of your competitor. This is without including reported updates since. October 18th 2019. Which was required to ensure your addition purchase DLC for equipment was working. A total of which might I add, for myself, came to $11.38 CDN. Leave alone the money I had previously dropped in your F2P. And now you need more money to put into a game that I have already paid $80.37 CDN for. When does it stop, why would you make a game which boasts the, you’re a paid member vibe, and just crumple up peoples trust and toss that in the trash?
In closing,
Please keep up the good work. I do like this game, i just don't want you to be taking money out of me left and right. Hand over fist. Release the new areas, and please overhaul the equipment. However, do it for your players, if you need more money, do a new equipment DLC, or release skin packs for the fish/players. I'll likely buy those too. I just beg of you don't ruin my purchase of your product by being money hungry, and preventing me from playing in the beautiful regions you create, or prevent me from battling with the fish you fill you lakes and rivers with.
Thank-you for your time,
Installing Caffeine.
P.S.
I picked you over Ultimate Fishing Simulator, because in your dev videos, you show your family people and players yourselves. So I believe there is something special here. Please don't prove me wrong.
i am extremely annoyed
Edit: also im spending baitcoins for bait that were working for the fish i wanted. but not anymore
1. While "paid additions" does sound like real money, it could just be baitcoins. Most of the other DLC in the game is bought with baitcoins so this DLC might be as well.
2. They advertise that the DLC in the game is free. They specifically said "there are no microtransactions in The Fisherman" If they do anything otherwise, that would be legitimate false advertising and they could get in trouble. I could be wrong about this though. I'm not a lawyer.
3. Towards the bottom they said that buying the DLC would get us INSTANT access to the things they listed. The term instant access implies that there is another way to get the items that isn't instant. Hopefully, they they do something like release the waterway for free and add a way to get it faster with money for those of us that have trouble leveling up. This way we wouldn't have to pay for it if we don't want to. They would still technically be breaking their own "no microtransaction" rule, but I wouldn't complain because I wouldn't have to buy it if I don't want to.
4. It wouldn't make sense for them to release a new map for money. Having us pay for gear packs is one thing, because we don't have to buy them to expand the game, but having us pay for a core component of a game they promised free DLC for is entirely different.
I could be completely wrong about all of this. If they do end up making us pay for the map, hopefully it won't be more than $5
Are you writing a song about this? Sounds like a grammy winner to me, lol.
