I have a level 70+32 fisher on the ftp version. Bought The Fisherman during a Steam sale near December 2020. Like both versions equally. This version has an easier economy and free premium perks which means you can level faster because you earn 50% more exp and game cash without paying for a premium prescription.

The DEVs did not forget about TF. They just don't have any control over adding anything to TF. Nacom owns the licensing rights to publish TF. Nacom would need to negotiate a contract to hire the DEVs to further develop and update TF.

Don't buy it if you dislike grinding.

There is a Halloween sale for The Fisherman and it's DLCs until Nov. 1, 2021. 65% off the main game and 50% off the 3 DLCs.

The Fisherman is far less grindy than Fishing Planet and the economy is much more generous. All you need to remember to make fishing less grindy is to use the time advance feature frequently to hit peak fishing times and also to advance regeneration times of certain types of fish like uniques and sturgeons.

If u wanna just go fishing, enjoy catching what there is in The Fisherman and not complain about the lack of Peru then it's far better than Fishing Planet.
I have 4 of every rod and reel set up i'll ever need, boats for any occasion etc. Can go fishing for 20 mins and no worries about cash or licences, instead of Fishing Planet where to make it worth your while u gotta allocate 2 hours.
I don't do missions, events or competitions, just go for all the big ones out there of various species and the odd bit of coarse fishing in France (none of the complainers ever say that France isn't available in FP btw)
Fishing Planet bores me to tears now, learning WHEN and HOW to fish is the skill that many don't see playing the game, it IS a game after all.
Once u figure out things, advancing time after catching a Uni whilst not worrying about baitcoins or cash is where u should be at, far harder to get there on FP.

Yeah man this game is the way forward. Maybe doesn't have as much content as Free to play. But doesn't have grind or microtransactions either. Plenty of content to get on with.

This is my choice of game after trying all the fishing games.

This game is a worse copy of the f2p version where they don't bring the updates and new maps.
Play Fishing Planet

I like this game better than Fishing Planet because it's so much easier to progress in and get somewhere and earn game currency including baitcoins. It's not even close to as much as a painfully boring and grueling grind playing this game as it is Fishing Planet.

I have somewhere around 600 or so hours logged in to Fishing Planet and I'm barely level 20. I'm approaching level 30 in this game with only around 127 hours logged playing it.
Much better, much more fun.

This game is Fishing Planet minus the south American and Africa maps.
- Skip time whenever you want at no cost!
- Unlimited Premium (50% xp and cash)
- Baitcoins for Uniques
- Unlimited non expiring License for in game cash!
- Rodholders on boats
- Trolling

The question should be - why the hell would you play fishing planet?

I would like to have the newer maps but if you get this game on special it is worth every penny. There are still 20 great locations in this game.

I play both and they are both entertaining to me. Each has a slightly different goal design and grind as mentioned, but when I want to chill and just fish while making progress to explore areas I have yet to go to in F2P it is also helpful since it is a lot more expensive in F2P to "just explore" and figure out the area first.

It is well worth it in my opinion. Totally enjoy both.

I personally hate the free version , I do have 1000+ hours in it , but I really enjoy the fishermen fishing planet when the servers are not kicking everyone off of them every few hours ,

If you're looking for a very casual expirience and not have to worry about in game money this might work for you. If you're looking to be around or chat with others or new maps, events, updates ect... go the ftp fishing planet but take the money you would spend on this and buy a dlc with an upgraded net. just understand this game lacks most of the new content that the ftp version has.
