Are you really listening to players’ suggestions? Then I’ll tell you, too.
Because your game is really fun, but the character limit can only be 100 NPC villagers, which is too few. The island is so big and there is a serious shortage of NPCs. My suggestion should be to have 500 or even 1,000 more NPC villagers because personal computers So it is possible to withstand the increase of these NPC villagers without too much delay.

The AI of the NPC villagers also needs to be made smarter, because some NPC villagers don’t know how to do things if they are too far away, which is really a pity for such a fun game, so the AI of the NPC villagers needs to be strengthened, so that it will be really useful. That's perfect. Because you said you would listen to players' suggestions, I will provide these perfect suggestions to the producers to make the game more fun. I hope they can be realized.

They don't. At least not individual players. It took dozens, maybe hundreds, of angry Twitter posts and customer support inquiries to get them to finally break down and fix the noticeboard voting problem.

The NPC limit is 60, not 100. The room limit is 100. These limits are mostly bounds set by Switch memory capacity. Switch is lowest common denominator for the supported platforms, so all must play by the same rules. If PC islands could only be shared with other PC players, then raising the limits to platform would be acceptable but that's not how it works. You can visit Switch player's shared islands and vice versa. Thus your island is limited to what Switch players are capable of experiencing. However, next generation of hardware would presumably allow for larger limits in a DQB3. (In fact, one of the reasons we haven't seen DQB3 yet may be because devs wanted more powerful hardware to do it, and didn't want to leave behind the 55-60% of their player base that's currently on Switch.)

My solution to 'smarter' NPCs was to just give us more control over them. Let us tell them what they can and cannot place in what chest, let us define 'pathways' and the routes they should take from point A to point B. Let us give them preferred locations on an island! This is less relevant on IoA where it's split into 3 (give us 5 zones at least, 3 is too few!) but on Buildertopia where they can access the whole island it can be problematic. Let us tell them what to cook in each kitchen! etc etc etc. If you give the player more control it takes away decisions the AI has to make - which means less lag while the NPC is trying to figure out what the heck it wants to do. Also - when they all run from the exact same place on one side of the island/zone to the same restaurant on the other side of the island/zone even tho they have to pass like 3 acceptable places to eat on the way - it just causes so much lag!

but yeah we all want DQB3 but if it's happening it's not happening for awhile. All we can do is keep telling them what we want in the game and make it clear how much we want it - and I'm 99% sure they never look at the steam boards so the only real place to communicate with them outside the random surveys they send out once in awhile is through Twitter.

Switch 2 might be out in 2025… could be good news for us in regards to DQB3

We can only hope that DQB3 is held up by two things: more powerful hardware in a Switch successor, and the desire to release DQ 3 HD-2D first to reintroduce the DQ3 story (assuming DQB3 would hold form and share a backstory with DQ3.)

Both of these are getting done soon, and if DQ12 is still off in 2026, there's heavy need for a DQ spinoff game in 2025. (2024 didn't get a new mainline or spinoff either; the first time this has happened since 1997. Unlikely SquareEnix does it two years staight.) Given Monsters finally got a new spinoff last year, its time to hit Builders series again and ride the high tide DQ3 HD-2D will likely produce.
