The NPC limit is 60, not 100. The room limit is 100. These limits are mostly bounds set by Switch memory capacity. Switch is lowest common denominator for the supported platforms, so all must play by the same rules. If PC islands could only be shared with other PC players, then raising the limits to platform would be acceptable but that's not how it works. You can visit Switch player's shared islands and vice versa. Thus your island is limited to what Switch players are capable of experiencing. However, next generation of hardware would presumably allow for larger limits in a DQB3. (In fact, one of the reasons we haven't seen DQB3 yet may be because devs wanted more powerful hardware to do it, and didn't want to leave behind the 55-60% of their player base that's currently on Switch.)
but yeah we all want DQB3 but if it's happening it's not happening for awhile. All we can do is keep telling them what we want in the game and make it clear how much we want it - and I'm 99% sure they never look at the steam boards so the only real place to communicate with them outside the random surveys they send out once in awhile is through Twitter.
Both of these are getting done soon, and if DQ12 is still off in 2026, there's heavy need for a DQ spinoff game in 2025. (2024 didn't get a new mainline or spinoff either; the first time this has happened since 1997. Unlikely SquareEnix does it two years staight.) Given Monsters finally got a new spinoff last year, its time to hit Builders series again and ride the high tide DQ3 HD-2D will likely produce.
