Desert World—how to keep people fed? D:

You get soooo many people in this world and only like 2 NPCs that will actually cook.

You also don't have farms for larger numbers of renewable food. You can't "farm" meat or mushrooms either. I dumped like 60 of the vineapples into a chest but they were gone in just a few days...

Honestly, that one non-miner guy that showed up really should be able to cook as well...

So no real way to automate, eh? Or at least get hundreds of food items easily (like you could with farming cabbages and wheat).

You should gotta go and slaughter hundreds of bunnies or hack cacti in the desert? Blarg.

You unlock new options as you explore new biomes in that land. Lots and lots of items to find in that little storyline, food just sort of gets picked up as you go.

Best way is to make 3 of the "marsh room" things. It's similiar to the one in the first game. Move 3 mushrooms into a room, and a chest and it'll grow unlimited mushrooms. Take those into the cooking room and it'll make more then just 5 mushroom kabob things.

Is the "mushroom kitchen" available as a recipe in the desert level? It's a kitchen with some mushrooms in it I think they can cook mushrooms without any in the chest but the suggestion above to make a mushroom room is what I ended up doing, as it gives hearts too.

Is there a reason to try to keep them fed? Feeding is just a source of extra hearts and you get a lot of hearts from other activities in the desert - pub specifically. I usually level up the town before I get to the point where I get a quest which requires to level it up, so I don't see a need of extra hearts which you will receive for feeding. For myself I just farmed a lot of cacti, set up 6 fireplaces and when I need prepared food I just go through all six several times until I have enough.
