DQB2 Switch vs PC (Steam)
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I have this game on Switch and was wondering if it is worth getting it on PC (Steam)?

You'd have to go through the story again if you already completed it on Switch. You'll get the Season Pass and some of the minor paid DLC included for free with Steam or Xbox versions. Assuming your PC exceeds minimum standards, the PC version also tolerates complex islands without sluggishness better than Switch. They do not crossplay with each other, so you can only do Multibuilder Mode with other PC players - however, you would not have to pay extra to do it like you would on Switch, which requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. A physical keyboard is rather more useful than the on-screen keyboard for entering text (such as island codes at Noticeboard)

It is effectively the same game though. Its not like one has entirely new story or radically different features than the other.

You can certainly try out the Jumbo Demo to see if you like the Steam version more than Switch before you buy.

I had purchased this game on Switch at first, but I found the load times to be terrible. I made sure to wait until this game was on sale since I didn't want to pay full price twice, and the Steam version comes with the DLC included for free.

It is subjective depending on what you want to do with the game and how much enjoyment you get out of it playing it on your Switch currently.

I am another person who bought it on Switch first, with DLC, played through the story, and just recently bought it on PC due to growing performance issues on Switch during post-story island expansion and building.

I played the demo on switch, then played it again on steam and bought it on steam. My reasons:

Cheaper: all content on steam for 50 Euro instead of 80 on switch.

Late game slowdown: I read elsewhere that the switch version has some late game slowdown. Also read the switch has some slowdown when you visit other towns.

Looks better: I immediately noticed when I started the steam version it looked better. To be fair, I was playing in handheld mode in switch though.

25 hours into Steam version, glad I got it on Steam.

I bought it on PS4 and played for 200 hours. Then bought it on the switch to be portable but the load times were very very long and some lag here and there. I bought it on release day on PC and it was a way better experience. Very short loadtimes, no lag, comes with all the DLC AND you dont have to worry about losing access to your game once the consoles life ends and you can no longer buy those consoles.

Fair point, but its possible that something about Windows changes to break DQB2 in a few years as well. I've got games from the 90s and even 2000s that I can't play on PC today, but I can whip out an old console from the closet and still play most of its games.

Also, its likely Switch has 4 or so years of production remaining, and DQB2 has already been proven to work flawlessly on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, which have at least 6 years remaining. So it isn't coming off consoles anytime in the near future.
