Advice on How to Make a Flower Tree
I've seen dead trees that were made into flower trees and I've also seen trees with ivys hanging from them in mid air. So how do you get the flowers on the dead tree and how do you suspend ivys in mid air?

Also, a question about the big acorn trees on other islands, can you grow those trees on IOA?

Flower trees, hanging ivy, and other suspended items are all done will filler blocks that are later removed. Earth, Sand or other easily destroy blocks are placed first, the flowers planted on top or ivy running down the side, then the filler blocks are removed and a dead tree put it in its place. It helps to have Ultimallet so you aren't decomposing your flowers to seeds or your Ivy to Cord if you hammer them by accident.

Bark Trees can be constructed on IOA or Buildertopias and will sprout Acorns for you. You need a column of Bark at least 4 blocks high and at least two side by side blocks of Leaves. I usually do a 2x2 column of Bark 4 or 5 blocks high, and top the column with a 4x4 then a 2x2 square levels of Leaves blocks (I've heard Teal Leaves work, too.). Wait a few game days and it'll have some acorns growing under the Leaves. The key point is that they don't need to be anywhere near the size you see on Furrowfield or Soggy Skerry.

Thanks for the helpful tips, it's appreciated. I also found someone suggested using shifting sand when building trees and other things. I tried it and it works great. I will also build the bark trees you suggested. Thanks again.

Yeah Shifting Sand or Crumbly Clodstone work too. Probably faster because you can just jump on them to destroy a bunch of it rather than hammering out each filler block.

BenXC covers the Bark Trees in his Link to the Past Island preview as I recall - towards the end of the video I think as he was explaining how he got enough trees (though Ultimalleting around Blossom Bay seems a lot faster to me.) Probably lots of other Youtube videos cover Bark Trees and Flower Trees, too.

Do bark trees grow on their own if you plant an acorn? Or do you need to build the tree from scratch? Or do you start it and then it grows after that?

No if you plant an Acorn you'll usually get a Plumberry Tree. Sometimes a different type depending on the soil.

You have to build a Bark Tree on your own from Bark and Leaves you've harvested elsewhere (probably at Furrowfield's rainforest or Soggy Skerry.) The Bark Tree does not grow bigger on its own - it only sprouts Acorns for free items. The bark trees at Furrowfield and Soggy Skerry are much larger and more elaborate but operate in the same fashion as the smaller, simpler ones you can create yourself.

One extra detail to mention is that bark trees won't sprout any until you've returned from Furrowfield the first time after beating the island boss. If you're trying to make a Bark Tree during the demo then you'll never get acorns that way. (The trees at Furrowfield have a fixed number of Acorns to start with but won't spawn more.)

This information is very helpful. So what I think to try is to blueprint a bark tree and build them on IOA that way.
