NPC's lost
So I'm on my isle of awakening, just after finishing the first town, I've made the forest/river/plains. in the center of the plains i actually built a castle with three levels, seperated by about 5 blocks per level, so there's enough room to actually see inside. I have a central stairwell inside that's about 5x5, with an exit on each level.. but sadly my NPCs seem to have gotten lost on the second floor. They're falling asleep there, even though there's a door to a balcony. searching for bathroom as well as food. which i have a kitchen, bathroom, and sleep rooms on the first floor. anybody have any suggestions? Do i have to tear down my castle? =(

So, I replaced the closed stairwell with an open stair. which doesn't look as cool, but it seems to have helped the pathing for the NPCs. at least they seem to have gone from the second story and are farming the fields like theyr'e supposed to

Three levels may be confusing them. The pathfinding for NPCs is kind of lousy and gets confused by multiple levels. They can usually handle two story buildings okay, but three or more tends to result in the stuck NPC pattern. If you go three levels, consider more than one staircase so the pathfinding can determine an alternate route. (Though it may still get stuck.)
Update, Multiple staircases, and wide staircases didn't help at all, Had to tear down the whole castle to single level. then of course works fine, but negates the whole castle idea. =P
