I dislike the really big building projects.
The Dietree in the first chapter, the Gold Bar in the second, the Pyramid... it's like, they give you this big project that's going to require a lot of work and resources to do, but is made out like it will be super satisfying when it's done... but then they just reneg and give you everything you will need to finish it right off the bat. And then you don't even have to build it, you just sit back and let everyone else do it for you. I don't mind that the other NPCs put the blueprint together, because they're obviously large buildings and putting it all together might get tedious, but just giving you all the materials needed and crafted already right off the bat? What do you need me for, then? The Gold Bar was especially this, as the two jobs it gives you to distract you while everyone else does all the work (getting Red and Blue dyes) I had already done anyway just by accident, so it literally just ended up being me twiddling my thumbs while waiting for them to finish so I could move on. And then in the end its like "Here's one last piece you can put on so you can feel like you contributed" like come on, could you be any more condescending... And then when it's down, I feel no satisfaction for it, as I had little to no actual input on it. The Silver Bar was way more satisfying because I actually had to *work* on it.

1. Back when the game first came out a lot of people requested this feature be turned off (or at least an option to do so) because you're right that it sort of spoils the effort.

2. On the other hand, I don't want to be spending an hour chopping down nearly every tree in the Furrowfield rainforest to come up with that much Bark. Or the time it takes to produce that many Gold Ingots for the Gold Bar (since the Forge only produces the one at a time instead of five like Copper, Iron, and Silver)

3. It pays off with the joke in the Moonbrooke chapter where the townsfolk look at you silly for thinking they'll collect all the blocks for you, just because the other two islands did
