Value is all relative. The DLC was previously sold separately at cost on other platforms. Make of it what you will. If you like the game, but not enough to pay $50 for it, wait for a discount. It will inevitably happen.
No one can make you like a game you're not interested in, nor convince you to pay for something you can't afford. I personally love this game to death since it introduces the builder block game genre in easy steps for idiots like me who are bad at making buildings look good. And the plot is very adorably done. Almost childlike in its simplicity, but I dig it.
If you're asking if people pay the full price for a game like this, then yes, they do. It's much less predatory than any FIFA or CoD game in my opinion.
If anything I'm jealous that the PC players get even MORE DLC for less cost. You're getting both the digital and physical edition addons, while us console players could only get one or the other unless we'd bought both versions at a combined cost of over $120.
For example, I'm still waiting on the Sigil Blocks to be made available for DLC purchase. Its the digital deluxe addon that I had to give up to own a physical disc but PC players get it for free, whether preordered or not. (Curiously, Japanese players have had this DLC pack in their e-stores since March but hasn't yet been made available overseas except for the digital deluxe preorders.)
Now about the price. For example, in my region, it looks like this: https://i.ibb.co/d4zksPV/vs.png
Well, just in case, some other popular upcoming products are: https://i.ibb.co/B2PbyD5/bpp.png
As we can see, the price of DQB2 is not so attractive for my region...
Don't need this ;)
I wasn't trying to make a distinction between physical and digital. Even with a physical PS4 disc, my DLC is still digital, and to participate in network functions like Noticeboard requires upgrade to 1.7.1 (from the 1.6.1 on disc), effectively making the game digital, too. The only advantage a physical disc affords is resale, and its generally only a few bucks. (Not that I'm up for selling my disc right now anyway.) I bought physical for two reasons: inclusion of Stackable Slime recipe DLC redemption card, and that was the only one offered for the 20% discount at my local game store, for $47.99 USD. (Digital would have been full price at $59.99 and Digital Deluxe at $79.99.) But I've bought other games digitally (including on Steam) and still feel like I *own* them, even if I don't have something physical to hold in my hands.
And I really don't mind if PC players are jealous of us console players for having a 5 month headstart on our islands. I'd certainly be less jealous of PC players if I could get the Sigil Blocks somehow. But I'd still be jealous of the Japanese for their Chalkboard and Periodic Table blocks that haven't come overseas yet. You guys can join me and we'll all be jealous for that.
This game, imagination is your only limitation.
(Some people mentioned GMG has it for * % off, but that just says "Game Unavailable in Your Region" for a lot of people.)
Gmg had it 15% off until this week, now 10%. As it has always been, even preorder.
As of last week, the last few days of their xmas sale they had an additional 5% off coupon good for any title on site.
So yea it was 20% off.
When it says that, just use a free vpn and buy it. You get worldwide version anyway.
I myself am from the US, but teach all over Asia. So I have to sometimes use vpn to buy certain games. Like when i work in korea or Vietnam.
I'd hope id get more then 40 hours out of the game.
But the game has just been out, So no one has spent thousands of hours on it.
I'm hoping to wait for some more feedback from players before i buy it to see if it's worth the pricetag.
