Team Fight with Malroth

at one point in the game it gives you the ability to team fight with Malroth. On controller it said to use "LB" and "A" button at same time. I have tried the button combo many times and no team fight happened. One time I saw a caption come up on screen that said use "LB" and "A" to team fight but was to slow in pressing buttons. Have not seen it again. Was this special team fight section and only happens in that part of the story or am I doing something wrong?

Its like a limit break ability, it takes time to charge up you and Malroth have to be fighting for a bit to use it. Malroth will get a red aura and you should get a prompt about using a cooperative attack with Malroth I think, I can't quite remember the exact wording but it straight up tells you when its ready. It does a ton of AOE damage and its one of the best reasons to keep Malroth around.

The way the game explains it is really misleading. You can only use it when you get that button popup prompt in the lower left corner. That can happen anywhere, I think, but it takes a while. I think it's based on how long you've been in combat, but it takes like 45+ seconds so you'll only see it if you're fighting strong enemies (or lots of waves of enemies like during a town defense mission).

note also it sends Malroth to where YOU are so if you're not where you want the attack to occur head over to where you want to attack before doing the button prompt thingy
