There is a point i reached in the story where the voice in Malroth head says, just kill her. And I was like YESSS, DO IT DUCKING FINALLY!!!
But sadly, he just said "nooooo" and that was it.
That part of the voice saying to shut her up was like, the most memorable moment i had in the game so far XD
And yes, every time she said "lulutopia" i just want to bury her into the sand alive.
The fact she threw a party for just Malroth and me really broke my heart when the other people came out to find us without them. On top of that nefarious brat trying to kill me with food poisoning.
Looking at DayDreamer claiming they don't see anything wrong with them make me feel like they want to be just like lulu, and to be avoided at all cost.
Anyone who does not mind lulu or side with that character probably skip the dialogues or something.
To sum up, I think I hate lulu more than any character in this whole game, to the point that alakatraz jail was a vacation next to her...
(on a serious note, if modding where possible in this game, i would spend all days long writing her off the story and replacing her with someone more sweet and lovable.
Because if anything, at multiple occasion I did not wanted to continue playing the game from how much I hate this character, I feel like the game is mocking me for being some kind of slave as she remove the "fun" in building
Like the castle part I am on right now on the main island, I just want to tear it down after she want to be the "queen" and make it look like she is the princess or something.
I really hope if they make DQ builder, 3, that they never ever make a character this awful.)
If I was any good at programming mods that's what I would do, give her a character arc that sees her settle in with friends and help build and realise a big castle and a title wasn't what she wanted after all but just to be with friends ... then she helps build something neat that everyone can enjoy, like a beach bar or something.
Malroth did the same thing about his "Empire of Evisceration" at the exact same time that Lulu made the suggestion for Lulutopia. I wasn't offended by either term as it was more just to establish a rivalry between Lulu and Malroth. Towards the end of the story she even goes on to say that the Island belongs to everyone. This was shortly after Moonbrooke. I might agree that does have a needy streak to her in the beginning, but she was never useless or bossy about it. After all she does get the story going, and plays a role with Malroth towards the end. She organizes the villagers and gives the MC direction, especially with the Green Gardens. I myself saw her as prissy, but this isn't a crime. I wouldn't say she is a bad person based on the things she has done. I think a person wanting to murder another because they don't like their personality...that's being a bad person.
When Lulu threw that party for Malroth, the MC, and herself I took it as one of those times when a person just wants to hang out with their friends. This isn't unusual, and something that happens quite frequently IRL. As for the food poisoning, it's...a rather old anime cliche of where a character can''t cook at all. On the plus side though we got to learn that Malroth liked it. The game up to that point was trying to show us that Malroth had a liking of darker things. I remember the temple in the lava pits and his comments there. He felt more at home in that place. I am trying to look at these things from the perspective of the writers and why they would choose to include this into the story. One thing I took away from that beach scene was that even bad cooks have a purpose in the DQB2 world lol.
I want to clarify that I never said that I don't see anything wrong with Lulu. What I did say was that I was curious as to why the OP hated her to a point of murder. I agree that her personality is generally not acceptable. I even think she is too prissy for her own good, but this is her character and it doesn't mean it's all she is. I don't think it's fair for you to say such absolute things about me, when you don't know me. It was that very statement that at least..to me...answered my core question. I know who I am, regardless of your opinionated view of myself. Sometimes people believe so strongly in their own opinions of others that they can't see other realities and become rather hostile.
In any event thanks for taking the time to respond. Take it easy.
One needs only look to countries like Sweden and Germany to see why this is an issue. “You want us to import HOW many rockbombs?”
Meanwhile, Malroth is all about putting the interests of the Island first and destroying anyone who opposes him.
Thank you for you developed explanation and I understand more why you are not as irritated as I am about her.
For the party, I know what you mean when "friends want to hang out with friends".
The issue is she never was my friend, nor I wanted to be hers. But then i keep forgetting the main character you play have their own choices and opinions.
I am used of Fallout, skyrim and such where you build your own character the way you want and align them as you being you with your own choice.
It would not be as bad if your own character was actually talking.
Everyone says something, but your character, only "nod" and the npc goes along and answer. so you can only imagine what he think through the gestures he does between reply.
if my character wanted to be friend with Lulu, and actually laugh or have a reaction to her Lulutopia part, then i would not be as aggravated as I am with her.
The problem is the protagonist is silent, you can only guess what his talk is, and because of such, you act more as what you want the story to become rather than how the story want your character to become.
As for killing her, yeah, it's part of as I said, Fallout series where when you find someone annoying, you get ride of them and the story continue without them.
It's not like they are real people, with a soul behind it. after all, it's just a game, and i want to have some impact that make me enjoy the game more.
I absolutely love the game, i am already clocking 60 hours in it with 15 on the demo. I just strongly dislike her insertion during the whole game and would have done better without her or if she had a change of mind and actual character development.
Look at the soldier girl from the third island, she apologize and become a good person as the story unfold, and that character was actually fun to engage.
That's just not true. Malroth is not close to the same. Malroth brings up the alternate name Empire of Evisceration only when Lulu tries to name the Island after herself. He is just saying it to debate with Lulu when she is trying to name it after herself. He's not trying to put his own name in the title like Lulu is and claim it's his land. Coming up with a name for it is much different than naming it after yourself, and he's only doing it as a response to her because of what she's trying to do.
She's such a self centered narcissist that she wants to name our island after herself, keeps bringing her false name up over and over (she does it so much that Malroth even gets sick of responding to her and stops debating the name with her on many occasions).
She also straight out lies to people who you bring back telling them she is the Queen of the island. Malroth isn't doing anything remotely like that. He's following you around trying to be a huge help to you in everything you do. Lulu is sticking around your island coveting it for herself and trying to take it over, telling people it is her land and she is Queen. Some NPCs even believe her when she first tells them and nobody corrects her.
She's a liar, totally self centered, selfish, narcissistic, far different than Malroth. And Malroth even would have reasons to name it after himself, being who and what he is, but he doesn't try and do so. Malroth also knows you are the boss and follows your lead. Lulu thinks she is the boss and that she's cleverly getting you to do all this stuff for her.
Lulu is supposed to be human and is much worse than the so called monsters. She's a total liar and narcissist and unlikable all around. If she was real I'd just get her out of my life. Since she is a game character who isn't self aware and can't feel, I certainly would love to kill her or torture her, kick her off my island. She's definitely in the running for one of the most annoying game characters ever.
Or better yet, make a character like her in DQ Builder 3 only let us be able to make choices story wise that would either kick her off the island or put her in jail or something :D
Her Lulutopia stuff is really horribly annoying and keeps happening over and over.
Another part that got me was when she tells some new arrivals she is the Queen and they call her "Your Majesty" because nobody speaks up to say she's lying.
She's such a self centered manipulative little liar! Trying to take over our island, thinking she's so clever and thinking she's controlling us.
Every time the game gives us an option to select something in the dialogue, a yes or no input answer, it really isn't a choice at all. If we select the wrong choice they just keep repeating the question until we select the other choice. I've told lots of people they can't come to my island or that I wouldn't help out and the game just gives some line about knowing I'm not serious or something and repeats the question until I select the one it wants me to. I don't know why they try to give the illusion of being able to select different answers when we really can not.
Although my biggest hopes for the next game would be expanded multiplayer and some quality of life play updates, I'd love to actually be able to make choices that make a difference in the story as well. Give us some annoying Lulu like character we can choose to kick to her own small island or put in jail (or commit to a mental institution or something).
Lulu is not only the most annoying character in this game but I feel she is one of the top annoying RPG characters ever. It's rare that I'm dreaming of a game character hanging by the wrists from chains over molten lava and stuff, but Lulu makes me daydream of doing that kind of stuff to her :D
“It’s better to do what others tell you, instead of thinking for yourself, right?”
Yes
>No
“That would make people sad! Don’t be silly, you wouldn’t want people to be sad, right?”
Yes

“That would make people sad! Don’t be silly, you wouldn’t want people to be sad, right?”

“I knew we’d be on the same page.”
yeah, until the end she was effing annoying, even after you save the universe they are in and make it real, she still brag about making a princess tower for her (which we luckily dont do)
What i did was tearing apart the castle (and the pyramid as well ridding a golem for efficiency)
I went to explore the buildertopia land, made a small gem island the one with lava, and i sent her there, never to be remembered again)
This is as far as you can give her hell.
Which is really not helping with how she been part of the main story for the whole game.
Malroth get better and nicer, the girl from the castle whatever her name, admited she was lying and got better, pretty much everyone does get better
lulu on the other end, she continue to boss around till the very end, and even after, where the game speculate that she is the queen and you are the "slave king".
there is nothing lovable in her, she is evil, it's all about herself, and hargon was a much better dude at the end, i would have traded her over him anytime.
because when you finished him, he said "if you kill malroth, i might rethink your idea of building"
So unlike lulu, even if he said that in a non meaning way, at least he gave you more hope about him changing than lulu.
too bad this game have denuvo in it, so no modding othere than cheat engine will work, and this is sad, i would have spent weeks to rework her character into someone lovable.
But then when you think about it, lulu is the incarnation of every rpg ever done in life, where you are the savior and you do what the npc tell you
this one shove it in your face a lot more, and not in the fun way.
I wanna replay the whole game, but two things put me down, lulu and the text malroth hear that is slow as ♥♥♥♥....when you end up waiting 15 minutes for 5 lines....
This is incorrect. There are several times Malroth mentions his Empire of Evisceration without being prompted by Lulu. For example when the Pyramid is being built, if you talk to him he says something close to "A pyramid is just a big building with a spike on top, right? Sounds like just the thing for my Empire of Evisceration!" *HIS* empire. In a conversation between just the builder and him. He seems every bit as conceited as Lulu does about the subject to me.
Lulu also stayed behind while you and Malroth went off to Furrowfield, so she had time to learn the lay of the land from the Hairy Hermit. No one seems to know IOA better than she, which gives her at least some reason to think of it as "her" island. A greater case than Malroth anyhow. (At least, until post-game.)
I found the whole Lulutopia vs Empire of Evisceration exchange very funny. Especially when the other NPCs join in on the gag. Bonanzoland. Magrog's Federation of the Fiery Forge, Dougie's Dystopia. Everyone thinks it should be named after them. Or at least a part of it (Brililliant Forest. Bonanzoland Basin. Ordelia wants to name the Item Shop and Jeremiah the castle staircase too but I forget the names they offer.) If you dislike Lulu because she's bossy, fine, but if its because she constantly remarks about being the queen of Lulutopia, then you've missed the joke. Malroth is quite bossy too (he even threathens to physically harm a lot of characters if they don't do what he wants, especially Perry.)
1. spoil ♥♥♥♥♥
2. bratty girl who always dream knight in shiny armor that would be all you know fanasty type of romance fanasty.
3. this ♥♥♥♥♥ is too demanding of everything
and probably that is it I think but what I think is into the perverting joke for I am going pull
1. this ♥♥♥♥♥ need knock up
2. she need go be touch by tentcal monster in sexually
3. then get ready for those strap clothing on her she been naughty as hell
4. this is the way how to shut her up.
5. make sure you build a giant dildo to make sure she is all good.
that all I think of that she could get her stress relieved out her system I mean she is the queen of nagging of island.
The game is good and I have heard I much is better than the first one, but there is a point that for my particular taste makes DQB1 more better, I felt sorry for the people and the first girl you know there, she is cute and naïve how she is wondered when she see you create your first creations you want o hel her and the people you start to knowing.
That pushed my interest in the game story, unfortunately my VITA crashed and DQB1 is nto available in Steam.
The story is good the game is awesome, but in the story and the character side far worse, in the same way I liked the first girl in DQB1 and felt sorry for her, I hate so much and find Lulu so annoying, reason already explained by the others in the thread.
Here instead of feel sorry and want to create for them I was like ARRRRH! When later in the game when you must build a river and she calls it lulu’s channel or something >:(
Seriously I assume the devs thought she would be funny but totally failed and ruined the story with this super annoying hateful character
