Welp, I didn't know about this BS, but I assume nope, other than having purchased the game before that date.

What a bummer.

Non-Japanese PS4 and Switch players are holding out hope that the minor DLC will be opened up for free or for a small purchase price (99 cents for each set) on the upcoming 1-year anniversary, July 12. If it happens, maybe PC will get the same favor. Legendary Line Art and Lo-Res Luminaries were available for 99 cents each for everyone on Playstation e-store for the first couple of weeks after release, but then moved to PS Plus exclusives. (I'm not sure how Switch does these.)

Of course, PC got (and still gets) the three main season pass DLC packs and DQB1 bonus set for free. These are extra costs to Switch and PS4 players. And Japanese players got each of the packs you mentioned for free on Japanese PS Store at their 3-month mark in March 2019. These decisions have rubbed a lot of us non-Japanese PS4 and Switch players the wrong way - we've paid the highest price but have gotten the least in return. As a PS4 version preorderer, I'm upset that I still have never been given a chance to acquire the Sigil Blocks set. Never offered on US Playstation Store by any known method. Only European e-stores with a Digital Deluxe preorder (game+season pass), and Japanese e-store since last March.

No idea why there is such discontinuity between different versions and different regions.

.

By the way, if someone can answer some questions about the Sigil Blocks, I'd appreciate it.
1. Are they available at Builder's Workbench during the tutorial, before you sail for Furrowfield? Seek out one of the three workbenches near the tablets.
2. If not available from the start, can you identify at which tablet activation they become available? (Green, Red, Blue, or post-game)
My assumption is they are there from the start because all other minor DLC is (even if you can't make it yet.) But I could use some confirmation. I can't get the DLC set for my PS4 and Jumbo Demo doesn't have this stuff. Screenshot proof would be most preferred. First to do it will be credited in my How Early document.

My reply is based on the Switch version but I would assume the general mechanics are the same.

1. The Sigil Blocks, and also the other DLC items listed in the topic post, are available as recipes right from the start - however, you might find that you cannot craft everything right away if you're short on materials. The amount of stone and wood you can farm before heading to Furrowfield is limited, as the other parts of the island are unbreakable until you progress in the story.

With the exception of the Ornamental Chimera Wing, Pixelated Princess, and Legendary Line Art, you should be able to craft any one of them, just perhaps not all of them for lack of resource. Those 3 items I mentioned require a material you do not encounter until Furrowfield.

2. see above.

Much thanks Kijame. I suspected the Sigil Blocks were there, but us Americans playing PS4 or Switch never got that set so none of us could be certain.

Should be enough material to build everything, though may have to hunt for it in the ocean, around the mountaintop temple, or bay west of the mountaintop temple. I'm certain all other DLC made of Stone, Cord, Dry Grass, and Wood can be made before sailing for Furrowfield without running out of material. Its the stuff that requires Grass Fibre that has to wait until you return.
Kijame Jul 8, 2020 @ 10:41pm
Of course there's no harm waiting till after Furrowfield, since you can unlock infinite of certain resources, including those used for these items, so you can build as many as you want shortly after. Unless you absolutely insist on adding them to your builderpedia before Furrowfield, although there's no benefit other than maybe bragging rights XD

And you can always return to Furrowfield at any time, so once you got those infinite materials, you can always go back there with a stockpile of sigils haha.

Well and I guess you get to achievements faster. Switch does sadly not have achievements, but there are achievements for Builderpedia % and such, so I suppose if you're really scrutinous about collecting and building EVERYTHING the moment you can, you definitely get there faster!

You'd be surprised how competitive some of us are at Gamefaqs forum to discover new tricks or secrets in the game and how early they can be applied. For example, whether the 26 map tiles target can be done before Malhalla, using the Scales and Sanguine Sand from the segment of Hargon's Fortress in the far eastern sea off of Skelkatraz. (There's a dream sequence when you're in the Hole, where Hellen, Adamn, and others appeal to Hargon - this sequence is rendered from this location; its not the whole Fortress, but the bottom floor throne room. The Gargoyle's slave ship you crash into is at Skelkatraz as well, in the far southern sea.) Poison Needle and Wrecking Balls also open up a whole lot of opportunities, like getting Silver, Gold, Diamond and Zenithium at Khrumbul-dun before getting the Sledgehammer, or holding the emote wheel open while sucked in by a merman to escape his attack and make it to the Colorful Cays or old Deitree at Furrowfield before getting the Windbreaker. The game is full of bizarre secrets if you're willing to snoop around, investigate, and experiment.

The sigil blocks don't provide any major surprises, but I'm trying to be comprehensive and document how early every obtainable item/set/room in the game is encountered.

Oh yeah, checking out Hargon's Fortress during Skelkatraz (and the ship) was super fun! I totally didn't pillage the place for what it was worth. I do like to try and sequence break on subsequent playthroughs at times. And in Moonbrooke there's this block texture testing area just left in the sky lol. And keeping the bananas from the first boss fight as items! And the chest glitch still works for key-locked doors in the Ancient Temple, as does some key item duplication of sorts. At least on switch, though I doubt they fixed any bugs on PC that they left untouched in the console versions.

But I mean, I'd imagine -most- secrets are already covered from people playing the switch and PS4 versions, provided the PC didn't have anything exclusive. Personally I love watching BenXC on youtube, he tries out debug stuff and even made the in-game characters with his 3D printer :D (and I mean, his builds are cool too lol).

im not interested in being told off for saying this. for me people should be allowed ot play single player games however you like. but i just checked a cheat table and it seems like you are able to add those limited dlc items to your world. you might not get the recipes or be able to build them (not sure not personally bothered so not gona test) but if you're really disappointed about it then grab the cheat table and give yourself the items? the price of this game i think its unacceptable they haven't just given all the people that paid full price all the items.

One question though: are those items just for decorations or is there anything useful? I'm talking more about the legendary line art recipe.

One thing is for sure though: they shouldn't have done this kind of crap, at least make them accessible as paid dlc later...
Stu -1 Jul 9, 2020 @ 2:43pm
the legendary line art just seems to be a 3x2 painting of the heroes/villians of the original dragon quest 2 im guessing. not 100% sure. and no special effect listed. but like i said if you want to check them all yourself go grab the cheat table with a google search. im not too bothered for this game so not bothered using the table to give myself them.

yeh its rubbish that they do this. tbh im not to bothered about THIS game doing it. but i LOVED dragon age 11. best game of recent years for me. and i hated the fact that there seemed to be so much more released than the pc steam version got.

Thanks for the help.

As per DQ11 I've heard that the switch version got more content than the PC one, is that true?
I remember that FFXII had the same treatment, but at least the recent patch added on PC the job reset from switch (along removing denuvo) which now only lacks the "keep inventory on ng+" from switch version.

have a read of that article. basically the switch version got a super update with loads of cool new extras. and as far as im aware the ps4 and pc owners were told to go swivel. so much so that some ps4 owners of the game got it again on the switch. i HATE games that ship for the same prices but give different experiences on different consoles. the definitive edition sounds like a much more complete experience. i just hope they don't do the same with dragon age 12 when it eventually comes out

Well ♥♥♥♥ SE yet again: I was waiting for denuvo to be removed from it to buy it on steam, but as things stand now, unless they add this content on steam I ain't going to spend a dime anymore.

Thanks for the help, really appreciated.

don't get me wrong. DQ11 is still a superb game in my opinion. especially when you think of how bad games these days usually are in terms of bugs and being unfinished. but just some small things i felt playing through it. like the lack of depth with the other characters. and being rail roaded into a certain romance. and a few other bits here and there. just left a sour taste considering how massive and grand the rest of the game was. and then to find out that the switch was basically getting a directors cut that addressed all these issues i felt whilst playing AND added even more stuff. was a very disappointing note to end on for such a great game.

anyway im sure we'll get somebody complaining we've gone off topic so if you want to ask me anything else message me direct or add me. had some idiot leave a nasty comment in one of my other posts purely because i was discussing something. in the discussion section. how ridiculous of me lol
きょすけ Jul 9, 2020 @ 3:40pm
Yeah, sorry for going kinda OT in the first place. Anyway don't worry and if anything thanks for the handy insights on both games!
