But i sadly cannot imo trust an AI to protect me unless they are intelligently designed.
The AI is simple both of your AI companions as well as that of the enemy, and they are smart enough to move away from some special aoe attacks. And they can clear the combat job for you, just make sure you give them the best weapons you can make.
Just note that during my time beating the game, I DID enjoy the combat during the story mode, but that was mostly because all my fights had a purpose. Almost every enemy I fought was either in my way or part of an objective, or was a needed optional fight to gain more...building materials.
But there's one trick the game doesn't go out of its way to explain to you that you'll want to do:
Literally one of the very first things the game has you building is a bed.
Always have a few of those (they stack) in your inventory.
Then, when Malroth and others get knocked out, place a bed nearby, run over to them, follow the promted button to pick them up, then walk (slowed a bit) to the bed and place them in it.
They'll be rapidly healed, and start smacking at that enemy again.
Otherwise, you'll wait like 20 seconds or something.
Later, you get MUCH more to manage combat, but from the start, that trick will get you through most stuff if you're playing a strategic quasi-pacifist.
This man deserves a cookie. Great advice
Plus I'd suggest always upgrading weapons (including Malroth's ASAP. The more damage he does, the less you have to fight lol
I just don't want to spoil too much.
Honestly though, most of that stuff is kind of too late in the game to shape most folks impressions of the overall structure of the gameplay.
By that point, it's mostly about annoyance reduction, more than anything. Once you figure out earlier how to shape monster appearance (torches, walls, moats) and use companions/healing/beds/walls when exploring, you're basically invulnerable - and death costs nothing but starting from town again anyway. There's no money system to lose on death, and you don't lose the 'Happiness' currency.
Really, the arc of the game anyway is figuring out that the fights are avoidable and only using them to farm stuff when you need to.
But now i cannot finish because its too difficult for me to not get sucked into the purple orbs. All that work building my buggy to avoid the orbs, but we cant use them in this place where im stuck.
love the game so much i started over to play it again :) Too bad i cant save my friend at the end of the game though. But at least i watched a video to see it.
If they die, they’ll take a nap and wake up in about 3 minutes.
The only downside is annoying hordes of enemies that will try to destroy your buildings will continue to spawn, and the AI that fights back is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥.
