Having played the entire game on NS, they're not super good at fighting, but if you really have a hard time, you can let Malroth and other characters do the fighting for you.

I usually just let everyone else fight because I am always dying in the game so I always have to leave to heal.😂

well you can do that mahlrot is supose do be your bodyguard and some villagers can alsol fight just have a weapon selectet in your slot and get close to them and if it says "give weapon" they can fight and protect if monsters attack you can alsol make a 2 block tall dirt wall so the monsters cant come in some of them like skeletons can destroy the wall and just to be save you should have a weapon if something bad happens and dont worry if a villager dies they are only ko and need a bit of time before they stant again

You can have Malroth and NPCs fight for you and still gain exp.
But i sadly cannot imo trust an AI to protect me unless they are intelligently designed.

Malroth is the one mostly doing the fights actually, even if you decide to be a fighter, he both have more hp and damage than you, you should rely on him on fights, only approaching when safe, while playing the demo I basically finished off monsters.

and in the parts he is not following you, you will have another combat npc with your.

The AI is simple both of your AI companions as well as that of the enemy, and they are smart enough to move away from some special aoe attacks. And they can clear the combat job for you, just make sure you give them the best weapons you can make.

You'll have to fight if you want a few things that make your life easier early on (trying not to include spoilers for obvious reasons). But as others have said, Malroth is there to make fighting easier on you, and to a lesser degree, some NPC's as well.

Just note that during my time beating the game, I DID enjoy the combat during the story mode, but that was mostly because all my fights had a purpose. Almost every enemy I fought was either in my way or part of an objective, or was a needed optional fight to gain more...building materials.

my first little town always have monsters shooting at me while im trying to build. Do i need to build a fence around the town?? Maybe that would help?

those big shooting slimes will always be there and they will shoot at you when you get to close to them. And yes that even means if you are still inside your town influence zone. So you could build a high wall on the outside to stop the projectiles, but keep in mind that those projectiles hare a pretty high arc.

You CAN let Malroth and others fight on your behalf.

But there's one trick the game doesn't go out of its way to explain to you that you'll want to do:

Literally one of the very first things the game has you building is a bed.

Always have a few of those (they stack) in your inventory.

Then, when Malroth and others get knocked out, place a bed nearby, run over to them, follow the promted button to pick them up, then walk (slowed a bit) to the bed and place them in it.

They'll be rapidly healed, and start smacking at that enemy again.

Otherwise, you'll wait like 20 seconds or something.

Later, you get MUCH more to manage combat, but from the start, that trick will get you through most stuff if you're playing a strategic quasi-pacifist.

This man deserves a cookie. Great advice

Plus I'd suggest always upgrading weapons (including Malroth's ASAP. The more damage he does, the less you have to fight lol

In late game you get a banner that summons NPC's to come fight for you if you have it equiped as a weapon too.

Indeed - that and lots of traps and definitely a lot more closer to post-game. Later, you can completely manipulate most everything, especially if you watch Youtube videos on it.

I just don't want to spoil too much.

Honestly though, most of that stuff is kind of too late in the game to shape most folks impressions of the overall structure of the gameplay.

By that point, it's mostly about annoyance reduction, more than anything. Once you figure out earlier how to shape monster appearance (torches, walls, moats) and use companions/healing/beds/walls when exploring, you're basically invulnerable - and death costs nothing but starting from town again anyway. There's no money system to lose on death, and you don't lose the 'Happiness' currency.

Really, the arc of the game anyway is figuring out that the fights are avoidable and only using them to farm stuff when you need to.

So, my villagers fought every battle for me untill the end bosses. And i loved the game so much.

But now i cannot finish because its too difficult for me to not get sucked into the purple orbs. All that work building my buggy to avoid the orbs, but we cant use them in this place where im stuck.

love the game so much i started over to play it again :) Too bad i cant save my friend at the end of the game though. But at least i watched a video to see it.

Yes. You can focus on building and ignore enemies while Malroth and other villagers defend themselves.

If they die, they’ll take a nap and wake up in about 3 minutes.

The only downside is annoying hordes of enemies that will try to destroy your buildings will continue to spawn, and the AI that fights back is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥.
