Global limits would be 60 population managed. That is, people, animals, etc, 60 total, not including you.
I hope modders can fix that. What a terrible moves by the devs to keep that limitation on PC.
It's the builder's board.
That board where you see screenshots and can visit islands and such.
Those islands are from the other console versions.
In order for everything to remain compatible and not crash the console users, the data you create can't break their limits.
Mods MAY be able to fix this - but not both that and being fully online for everything.
Don't know if there's a limit to the amount of "sets" like scarecrow/crops, pools, dining tables, etc within all your rooms.
So, once you're reaching that limit, start planning out what you want, plus a bit of slack to match your overall design with some room leftover to play.
Oh, and if you want more islands to play with - make a copy of your save, then keep a save for each thing you want to build. Then copy back and reload the game to swap.
100 isn't that harsh a practical limit with the 60 population cap sharing them all.
You just can't keep working ghost towns to try on the same map.
Well, until modders possibly up the limits on stuff - then you might make a China historical simulation or something.
One other trick is just taking the door off stuff you're not using.

But I think it's not as bad as it sounds for most players.
I had already assumed the console limitations on rooms, storage, etc. would be carried over with the port, but what really disappointed and prevented me from buying this game again was their ridiculous decision to include Denuvo - a mod and performance killer (among other things).
I mean, what the hell is the point of introducing your game to PC if you’re going to make modding it a complete nightmare? It goes against the entirety of what most people get into PC gaming for: customization and modding to create an experience you can’t get via console gaming.
