How do I power the cauldron to make the ink?

Seriously can't figure it, got the roots, got the fae dust, can't turn the damn cauldron on. Great game btw, old school fps at its finest.

I had a little bit of trouble with this part too but I don't recall the exact location; try going outside of town and searching the caves, if it isn't there then I'd have to go back and look for the correct location. Best thing to do is backtrack a bit and search around, if you're really stuck perhaps mess around with the automap settings in the options menu, might be able to turn an option on to highlight it.

The Axe Room has a Red Crystal which you use to put into an empty cage near the cauldron in the same room. It's a small cylinder thing.

Got it, thanks Castile and spart_n. Not having found the axe key was the real problem.
