Minsk Offensive
Is it intentional on the Minsk Offensive that you cannot deploy any of your core forces?

Intentional - as hinted in the pre-release updates regarding stressing out that the war is being lost by Germany regardless of how well you execute individual missions.

It hammers the point home but on replay I just skip it with console command - given that it's obvious you're going to get steamrolled.

It seemed intentional but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a bug. I have to say I'm loving this DLC. I feel like the game has made me really have to think, for the first time, in a long time.

Having said that I see that they are purposely creating a stressful situation but man, having build up a whole army after all this time and saying, nope, you can't use it is a bit tough.

Hopefully it is a one time situation to make an impression, otherwise it defeats the fun of building a core force, and then, even when outnumbered, being able to hit back, hard.

It's the only one of its kind, at least in this DLC,
Otherwise agreed, best AO so far

I liked this one, especially the vibe with HQ sending orders that are simply ridiculous at times, ordering you to hold on to cities and to counter-attack when you are not capable of doing so.

However, I'd love to see how I'd do with my core force in that battle. Is there a cheat/edit around with which I can add deployment hexes for my core force?

A bit like starting Riga with no air units.

Minsk gave a very historical 1944 feel - unrealistic orders, overpowering enemy forces. I thought the designers were very clever about making it only Auxiliaries, so you could get the feel without tons of hate email coming in because people's core forces were being destroyed. You lose and you win anyway and go on with the next scenario. I too wondered about what if I replaced the 5th Panzer with my core force - provided I'm running on a backup copy. I haven't used the editor but it seems like a neat idea.

Can you shed a light on how to do it in Editor? Or perhaps modifying LUA file is needed too?

1. open the scenario in the editor. goto Edit-> special hexes and place deploy hexes for ur player on the map (little blue 1 in the corner of the hex when placed)
2. goto Edit-> Scenario parameters-> 2nd tab, set coreslot value for ur player.

Let me know if u run into any issue cause i forgot something, doing this from the head atm cause i'll in bed.

sers,
Thomas

Since I am playing alt history path I believe Operation Stormbird is similar concept mission as Minsk Offensive. And so my answer is based on Operation Stormbird.
At first it did not work as intended and I think I know why. You have to remove "human" units from the map, and place special hexes in order to deploy your core units. I did that in Operation Stormbird and was able to deploy ground core units.

Again, thank you! When I finish alt history path I will go back and modify Minsk Offensive and re-live that moment with my core units;)

I actually kept quite a lot of the auxilaries alive until the end of that mission. I formed a huge defensive front on the hills and forests with my infantries backed by artillery and same thing on the clear terrain with tanks and atg. It worked really well except for 2 turns where they managed to encircle me but eventually I broke it off.

Problem is I wasted over 15 000 prestige replenishing my troops during this mission since they were getting hit hard LOL
