I don't think you need 12000 prestige at that stage, if you are good at minimising casualties by for example:
keeping your tanks in clear terrain hexes
keeping your infantry in close terrain hexes
keeping your tanks covered by anti - tanks
keeping your infantry covered by artilery especially if they are in close terrains
not attacking entrenched units before supressing them
keeping your land units near anti air canons
protecting your bombers with fighters
etc.
also you should try encircle units (if they don't have supply hex near by), it gives supressions to those units. Or atleast force them to surrender, that gives prestige.
You should also try act quickly to get bonus prestige for finishing mission
Anyway I highly recommend to learn the mechanics of the units' traits and generally of the game.
Thats what I did and with some upgrades and by disbanding some units to free up prestige so I could buy new better suited ones inbetween scenarios I am at Stalingrad now. It's a challenge and can be frustrating at times but I prefer it this way over having tons of prestige available at all times.
Mostly only use elite replacements for some air units and green for most others by the way.
opposed to winning at any cost, The time limits force you to do this, so I unticked this now.
