Not Thrilled
I played the original Panzer Corps game, with all DLC, and liked it very much. I am sorry to say this version of the game is just not enough of an improvement to hold my interest. Playing the same operations again does not thrill me. The tweaks to heroes and making medals meaningful are not enough of an improvement to keep me playing.

My opinion only.

One of the issues developers have when they make a "new game" based on an old favorite is finding the right balance of new content to old. That being said. it is very difficult to give us all fresh new battles, not that there are not enough out there, it is more that the gamers expect certain battles. How could you have a WW 2 game with Germany and not have certain battles? IE Stalingrad, Kursk, France 1940. So the end result is games covering the same battles over and over. I too found the number of battles in the 1st PzC to be far superior. The amount of content in a DLC was about double what we get here. There are things that they got right on PzC 2 but a lot that was ignored. The DLC that I found the most interesting was SCW, it covered a period most games ignore. All this being said did you play the base game or the game with DLC?
But I must say I like the new "PC1-Grand Campaign-1939". It is very intriguing with huge maps and nice terrain. The missions are also very different from previous and have multiple bonus options. For example just 'Kampino's Forest' in Poland had 6 different objectives including building 2 airfields. It really gave PC2 a new lease of life for me and I enjoy it a lot.
I am into mission #8 now only in Poland , ' Modlin Fortress' and have spend 5 days here, averaging 5-6 hrs/day gametime, including the 'Preludes' training missions.
For me this feels like a brand new PC2-game and I am also looking forward to switching to the 'Winter war in Finland' after Poland, instead of the Norwegian campaign.
I like 'PC1-GC' a lot and think those Dev's has made a great job here! :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:

I bought just the base game, primarily to see how the Hot Seat game played. I was not thrilled with that, either. In other games I have played that have HS, when it is my turn to play it shows me what my opponent did in his turn, subject to fog of war. This game does not, which is a huge negative for me.

Are you saying that we must purchase DLC to get something that is not just a rehash of the same operations in PC1? Sorry. When I purchase a game I expect it to be new content. But that is just me.

I absolutely can recommand this mod ...

The game in general has good improvements compared to PC1 but the map design of the mods is much better!

Also can recommend Storm over Europe ...

both mods 10/10

The DLC have many battles you have never played. Spanish Civil War is completely new battles that you have never seen before. Like I said in my 1st comment when you are playing a historically based wargame you are going to have some of the same battles as you have seen before. The community would revolt if we had a PzC 2 that did not have the battles that we have seen before. Traditional war gamers tend to embrace this, some of us have played for decades and enjoy seeing a new system looking at old favorites. I knoiw everyone is different. I would suggest trying the SCW DLC for a set of fresh new battles you have not played before. (I have played games since the late 1960's and had never encountered the battles that DLC has. I would suggest the MOD no AI Infantry from the workshop, If you want to control the Spanish Inf on your side.)

Thank you Thomas, but that does not solve my problem, it is just more of the same problem; rehashing the operations I have already played.

Don't get me wrong, I loved playing the entire Grand Campaign. And I imagine had I not played PC1 I would love it now in PC2.
