Because, using it will, more than likely, cost more than what you got for it.
Especially, if you use it, then upgrade it (puts it back into the pool) then later on you equip your auxiliary forces with it.
There is no win/win if you capture it and use it, that only occurs if you capture it and never use it.
It should be like "Lets Make a Deal" offer me money (prestige) or go for whats behind door #1.
1. you use the equipment which the cost of doing this was paid for by capturing the equipment.
2. you upgrade it. you pay for the cost of the upgrade AND get the captured equipment back in pool. You are retaining the value of the captured equipment in that you do not have to pay for the full price of the upgrade just the difference. This is the same for upgrading any equipment not just captured equipment.
3. you equip your aux troops with said equipment. Any aux troops are gone at the end of a scenario, so yes this is and added cost that you CHOOSE to do.
Each of these are a separate thing, yes they all share a link to the captured equipment. But are each separate. You want the captured equipment to be free forever but it does not work that way.
Example you capture a unit, you get the points of equipment and prestige value added to your pools. Say it is 15 points of equipment and 150 prestige.
Now you decide to field a unit of the captured equipment It removes 10 points of said equipment and 100 prestige. Now a few scenarios later you upgrade the unit to something newer. The new unit would cost you 200 prestige to buy it new BUT you paid 100 to deploy the captured equipment. So you pay 100 prestige and get the 10 points of captured equipment back into your pool. You are totally wrong in the "Because, using it will, more than likely, cost more than what you got for it."
