A look at the new Limited Stock feature
With the new 1.02.01 update a Limited Stock feature has been added to Panzer Corps 2.

Slitherine's Edmon made a video about it, to showcase it and to talk a bit about it. Needless to say he's enthusiastic about the change.

I am also happy to answer any questions you may have :D.

Those of you who tried it earlier, the transport issue has been fixed and you can now adjust the stock level to taste to make it more or less challenging.

I am very happy with the new Limited Stock challenge. If used it makes the game harder without making it harder, if you know what I mean.

I think I won´t play any Panzer Corps II games without that option anymore, for I like that sort of WW2 realism. Also, that option actually renders some more or less useless unit types into some usefull ones if you haven´t enough stock of more powerful units to use them at will.

However, you guys should increase the number of infantry, at least of the very basic Wehrmacht Infanterie, to 30.

Firstly Wehrmacht Infanterie was way more available than other kinds of infantry, secondly no matter what other players might prefer, I DO prefer playing with a lot of infantry and I do like Heavy Infantry or Wehrmacht Infantry actually more than Pioneers and even use them more often, no matter if this is very efficient or not. For me it´s a question of personal taste and flavour.

So, I´d really like to see more than just 20 Wehrmacht Infanterie per mission, since I usually use at least two units of them in most of scenarios. Even more so, as higher casualties in numbers during combat are very common among infantry.

I think it would likely be too complex to make it so that individual units could be adjusted... but what you can do is give yourself (or re-roll killer team until you get) a field medic hero. This will allow you to conserve your infantry over the course of the game :).

Also, field medic is a good hero now :D.

Well, fewer available manpower forces me to handle my infantry more carefully (than before). On the second thought this isn´t a bad thing. Great! Looking forward to make it happen.
Can I ask if this also applies to allied infantry. While I think this is a great idea just tried the SCW DLC with limited stock set at 20. Spanish allies run out of reinforcements very quickly so that they rapidly degrade and don't reinforce.
Given the player is so reliant on Nationalist infantry don't see myself being able to complete scenarios with this active.
Would really like to use this feature but anyway to apply it to player controlled resources only or to change it so that you can choose this for each DLC separately. Thanks.

You can set it for each DLC seperately, just import your core into the next DLC.

There is a mod that lets you control Spanish infantry, made by the developer Rudankort, which should make the Spanish situation a lot easier to handle.

One question. If i finish a DLC with lets say 50 Inf in my stockpile do i start the next DLC with 5o Inf or do i have to start all over again

It should transfer over, just like with captured items.

I always wanted manpower in this game, seems this could be a form of manpower? I haven't played this game in Months, will this apply to AI as well, would be nice to play a War of attrition with the AI. I'm not exactly an expert gamer and I got tired of the endless hordes of Allied units.
Black_Hole Nov 7, 2021 @ 5:47am
The AI isn't affected by this.

Love the limited stock option, not playing without it anymore.
Just curious, I find myself disbanding my auxiliaries on the last turn (SCW), as otherwise the units are gone from the pool, even though they are alive and kicking. Anyway this could be automated? Kinda sad if I forget and my pool evaporates into thin air...
Cheers Leo

Love the thinking behind this, Edmon. Simple, but captures the intent. Great idea!

A few comments for consideration to perhaps work out some of the initial kinks:

  • It does seem odd that specialist units such as Pionere and Fallschirm should get the same stock per mission as Wehr Infantry, which was ubiquitous. Without adding a lot of complexity, I wonder if there could be a checkbox option that could be something like Stock +20 Wehr (or so). In this way, the player could be encouraged to set Stock even lower, but get a boost of Wehr Inf each mission to reflect their widespread availability. Another option might be to follow the prototype model of getting randomized stock each mission, but Wehr Inf always gets maximum stock by default.
  • If I am understanding, Spanish Nationalists are tied to player Stock, and that the solution to their quickly depleting their stock is to get a mod. This is nonsensical. If a dev introduces a mechanic that breaks a DLC, the solution cant be get a mod that fundamentally changes the intended gameplay of that DLC. Please consider placing AI-controlled stock on the limitless-stock track. Not everyone wants to play with that mod.
  • How will Limited Stock affect stock depletion of other AI-controlled units on the player's side, such as Rommel's 7th Panzer. Will AI replacements there decrease player stock?
